If you had the money (and schedule flexibility) to fly first class around the world on a 'mileage run' why would you give a poo poo about your airline status? Status doesn't give you anything you don't get from buying a first class ticket.

Don't go down the rabbit hole... I have a doozy of a trip coming up in a few months. 2 weeks in Japan, then 1 week in Austria, then 1 night in Las Vegas (for a silly loving banquet) and back to Detroit. What's the best way to clean my clothes? I don't want to drag a huge rear end trunk around with me everywhere. Some hotels in Japan will do laundry but all the ones that I saw won't wash your underwear. Especially since this trip will have a ton of train travel, I want to try to do it light somehow.

If there is some service to wash clothes in Japan that anyone knows of, though, I'm all ears. My backup is to do a load at a friend's place but I'd rather get it done to save some time.

Yeah a friend of mine complained about the underwear thing when he had a trip in Japan. He ended up having to do it by hand in his hotel bathroom.

Maybe it's a little too  but usually wash all my underwear, undershirts and socks in the tub filled with soapy water and then rinsed off in the shower. I hang them up on the shower rods to dry. I've done this with dress shirts in a pinch, but it requires too much ironing.I'm that guy. I always put up the DND tab because I don't want people knowing how much of a hillbilly I am.

It's not that weird is it? Hotel laundry is expensive! For me, I just wear a quick dry shirt as an undershirt and wash that every night. Keeps my nicer clothes clean and my bags light. Where in Germany are you going to be? I remember in Frankfurt there being a by-the-kilo overnight cleaning service in the Hauptbahnhof, and in Munich I had no trouble finding a laundromat. Really anywhere you are just google "laundromat" and something is going to pop up, though it might be self service and require you to hang out for a few hours. For in hotel laundry, I've posted this before, but you can buy sink sized packages of Woolite that work great for washing a change of clothes. Tide makes them as well, but I've never tried those. Man some China goon found a super cheap deal like 1379 RMB (222 USD) including tax round trip Hong Kong to LA, and a tad more for Boston. The catch is he has to do 39 layovers If it's 39 layovers, he's bound to be near boston, can't he just skip some of the flights and just walk out of the airport?Will he be able to claim mileage for this?

They do make me sweat more than cotton but are quick drying and easy to clean.

I'm heading directly from work travel in El Paso to LA to fun travel in Hawaii next week and I can't believe I somehow fit 2.5 weeks of radically different clothing, three pairs of shoes (heels!), and all my vacation poo poo into a carryon rollerbag. The criteria is if it's a regional meeting, everyone has to fly economy. I guess they don't want over 100 people buying business class tickets at once? Our typical policy is any international flight is business. If I was heading to DXB for a particular project, I could still book J.

My husband and I have to live in an extended stay hotel for the next 3 weeks or so due to circumstances beyond our control. Do you guys have any tips to make this bearable? Here's some other info: -We've been making the bed every day since our room only gets housekeeping once a week. It makes it feel more homey. We also have our own blankets and pillows. -Yesterday we went grocery shopping so that we can cook for ourselves (there's a kitchenette with a small range, full size refrigerator, cabinets, microwave, a sink, and we were able to check out utensils/plates/pots and pans from the front desk). -There is no pool or gym on site. -There is a laundry room with $2 per load wash and dry...we were able to get rolls of quarters from the front desk. -The Extended Stay is in the city we've lived in for the last 6 years, so as far as exploring a new area etc. that isn't really possible because we've done everything there is to do. -My husband gets to go to work Monday through Friday (lucky bastard). My job is fully online. I am thinking during weekdays I will walk over to the neighboring Starbucks to work just so that I don't feel so claustrophobic. Anything else we should do? I am glad we have a pretty exact date we will be outta here.
