LET ME EXPLAIN TO YOU WHY YOU ARE WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING
Talking about TV, the pilot of Selfie is on ABC.com, and it's surprisingly good.
If you don't know what it is, it's sort of a Pygmalion/My Fair Lady adaptation for the Twitter era starring Karen Gillan and John Cho. If this did not already interest you, you're weird, but okay. What might interest all of you is that it's really well written and acted, and Cho and Gillan have fantastic chemistry.
also it would probably be impossible to tell while watching it that Karen Gillan is Scottish if you didn't know ahead of time.

I'll give it three episodes to see if things improve, but I thought the pilot was really bad. The show feels like it was written by an angry grandpa. Its so drat preachy and what few jokes there were were all weird comeuppance or karmic retribution poo poo directed towards a character whose only crime was using social media.

Ep 5-6 it becomes an actual show. If you don't like it by then you probably won't at all. It doesn't really reach its full potential until the entirety of season 2 though which is when it turns into a crazy paced, plot chewing roller coaster.

The entire point of the icebucket challenge is to raise awareness for ALS and donate money. There were no links on the video listed to the ALS donation page. While the video was great, it just seems like another old celebrity attempting to prove his relevance in modern times.

Wait, really? Because everything I know tends towards the notion that circumcised men are MORE sensitive, not LESS.

I thought circumcision got popular because some doctors told everyone it's cleaner/healthier or whatever.

I'm always though it was common knowledge that uncircumsized men are the more sensitive ones. In addition to have more nerve endings because you still have your foreskin, the head of your penis isn't desensitized from constant rubbing against your underwear.

From Wikipedia:

Modern times
Circumcision did not become a common medical procedure until the late 19th century. At that time, British and American doctors began recommending it primarily as a deterrent to masturbation. Prior to the 20th century, masturbation was believed to be the cause of a wide range of physical and mental illnesses including epilepsy, paralysis, impotence, gonorrhea, tuberculosis, feeblemindedness, and insanity. In 1855, motivated in part by an interest in promoting circumcision to reduce masturbation, English physician Jonathan Hutchinson published his findings that Jews had a lower prevalence of certain venereal diseases. While pursuing a successful career as a general practitioner, Hutchinson went on to advocate circumcision for health reasons for the next fifty years,

Every line from Karen Gillan is a struggle to sound American. It really needs to sound effortless like Alan Cumming or Toni Collette. She must have gotten the job through some ABC/Disney contract obligation. The show is also bad.

I thought she actually did well with it. You want to hear a terrible attempt at an American accent, look no further than Rebel Wilson in Super Fun Night. Although saying she's even trying is pretty god damned generous.

I actually do watch Perception and generally enjoy it, though it's not exactly brilliant television (I think I just have a thing for Rachael Leigh Cook). Do you mean the most recent (Season 3) finale? If so no, it's the house that the old woman in Pierce's father's facility used to live in. She claims an old mobster is living there, and as a leap of faith kind of thing Daniel decides to go with Kate and check it out. Then, explosion.

The last line was a joke, I'm sorry you missed it.

The original statement still stands. If that's his actual video, Sir Patrick Stewart failed in promoting ALS. It has nothing to do with the ice bucket and everything to do with the donation. But he didn't make a single mention of ALS, he was never like, "the link to donate is in the description." People follow by example, but he made no mention of donating to ALS. So the point of the video, I'm assuming, is not about awareness but simply a celebrity trying to prove his relevance in the modern day. Besides some lovely x-men movies, yeah he's not that relevant anymore.

Also a better video would be if he was in his lobster suit dumping cold water on himself.
