Despite this I can't help but keep restarting until I sneak through every section and save every civilian, no matter how ridiculous it seems. If a game has stealth as an option, I simply must take it. Double so if it has non-lethal stealth.

The characters are as stereotypical as you can get, the gameplay is textbook last-gen 3rd-person shooting and, while there are some fun boss fights, you mostly just fight wave after wave of identical enemies. There's also a sense of risk/reward with some of the cards, especially devil's wager where you're basically asked to defeat a normally easy enemy while taking less than 8 hp of damage (because you only have 8 hp), and if you succeed you get a really good reward. This is especially hard against the enemies with ranged abilities, they'll whittle you down pretty fast if you're not on your toes.

Shoot a limb long enough and it ends up looking skeletal with exposed wiring and stuff, then you blow the whole thing off. You can tell at a glance how much HP a regular enemy robot has left by how messed up he looks.

Binary Domain is great fun. It's a really solid cover shooter that doesn't do any new or amazing things, but with a really good story. I do like that you can shoot enemies to pieces, literally.
