That's because you don't understand what makes a university great. It isn't any of that science crap, what a waste! No, it's a good business school and well funded law faculty. That's what makes a university great. Teaching people the important skills for when their parents hand them down their first investment portfolio. Oh, and maybe nursing or a design course for the little women. You know, something to train them on how to properly look after their man and his home when he decides it's time for them to get married.

Ragingsheep posted:Is that to do with number of seats vs the popular vote across the state? Yup. Remember, with single-member electorates you can theoretically win majority government with 25% of the vote - 50%+1 in half of the electorates, 0% in the rest. I really hope that the relative normalisation of third parties that's occurred in Australia over the last couple of election cycles might lead to some movement on proportional representation.

Lol Roger Rogersons defense in the Jamie Gao murder case is literally "I saw two men enter a garage, thought it was taking a long time, so I thought I would go in there and offer some fatherly advice" I dunno Roger, my dad never shot me in the head for spending too long in the garage.

The fact that they believe in the system that credit rating agencies espouse makes it even sweeter.

General populace thinks that all politicians are out for themselves in the long run and therefore there is always going to be corruption. The fact that both ALP and LNP have been implicated via ICAC reinforces this "fact". It may also help to guide people into a more FYGM mentality when dealing with policies being paraded before them at election time. Or people are just poo poo, depending on your level of misanthropy.

The fact that both ALP and LNP have been implicated via ICAC reinforces this "fact". 45% of the population are rusted on to the party they support and ICAC changes nothing. 14% lean Coalition and ICAC reinforces their existing biases against Labor, making them more likely to vote for the Coalition. 17% lean Labor and ICAC reinforces their existing biases against the Coalition, making them more likely to vote for Labor. 20% have been dissuaded from supporting either major party by ICAC. 4% don't know anything. So ICAC only has any real influence on 20% of the population, the rest just barrack for their team or don't care. We'd need to know who they were planning to vote for before ICAC's revelations to make more meaningful inferences from this data.
