Yeah, finally they've gotten bored of MY SPERGY VERSION OF ANCIENT HISTORY MODS at last and slowly but surely they are branching out. Also, the American Civil War Mod Team porting to Shogun 2 have actually added in a new ship model to the game. This is pretty much ground breaking stuff!

 The Getae think reading poo poo on wood and stone pattern is a good idea.  The Bactrians think putting gray text on obnoxious textured parchment is a good idea. Did you know there are two buttons, one on the top-right corner of the minimap and on the top-left corner of the town info panel? The UI looks perfectly readable to me and it's gorgeous to boot.  I do agree that the walls of text should be condensed and there are definite issues with things referring to stuff that are no longer there or renamed.

I'd imagine a lot of text is copied over from the first EB, which is reasonable enough to me considering how much historical fluff they typed up. I didn't screenshot it but the custom battle screen has the unit tool tips in faded gray text (instead of yellow) on the transparent black background on top of the blue of the main menu. It actually is pretty much unreadable. The Getae interface actually did make me angry because I think my eyes crossed or something when I looked at the bright yellow and wood brown buildings on the wooden palisade backdrop. There isn't much formatting in some places so they should fix that, or maybe just cut a bunch of it down. I refuse to believe anyone working on this mod is actually a history major because they should know better than to just vomit out information like that. In some places there are helldumps of text and in other places there is maybe one paragraph. It's fine if you couldn't find a bunch of stuff on whatever it was but it makes it pretty obvious where all the research time went into if you are going to do that and I see like 8 paragraphs for a Roman thing, 5 paragraphs for a Celtic/Hellenistic thing and then you struggle to get like more than three sentences out on something Eastern. I do have to ask though, is there a building tree similar to M2 or do I just loving feel around until it suddenly just clicks in my head. There are buildings that have no effects that can be built but with no immediate available next building in the chain. I'm not gonna lie but the old games were really loving bad at trying to illuminate any building chains.

As someone who's messed around with modding, there are certain effects that won't display but have their effects(Sometimes you can fix this by adding something that actively does nothing, sometimes you can't). 'Construction cost bonuses', 'morale boost to troops from a building' are examples of these.

One thing I noticed in my brief test (CTD when the computer sallied from a siege) was that moving my guys around gave their commander 'forced march' trait, which supposedly gives penalties. However, he also picked up 'forced march expert' which negated all of these, so I don't know how penalizing they are. There's also the 'reduced movement during winter' trait which does make sense. Going back to Medieval 2 is pretty rough after the good, clean design of Shogun 2. Browsing those traits, for example, is painful because you can only see a small amount of them at a time: all my Roman guys sort of blended into one another and I had trouble finding out which of them were actually useful. There also a lot of completely superfluous "traits", such as 'this man belongs to this family' and 'this man used to be a tribune, but isn't anymore' which don't seem to actually have any effects. Expect a lot of S.P.E.R.G. jokes, they sure make it easy. Going to give it a couple of more tries, but the mod seems pretty crash-prone at the moment. I had one crash just from browsing the different factions.
