That was kind of the point with the character design, instead of making an outrageous design twitter and tumblr would ridicule and call "just what you'd expect from 4chan", they chose an inoffensive, non-sexualized and unremarkable girl who likes video games. I like Giant Bomb because it's more of a personality driven site and they barely even do reviews for games anymore. I can't remember Patrick saying anything particularly offensive, but as he does most of the 'journalism' stuff I can see why he'd get all the flak. Mostly I'm jealous that he can look like a 12 year old and yet still grow more facial hair than me.

GB is more transparent than any other group about their relationships with developers and videogame companies, and patrick has made it pretty clear in the past two podcasts of his that he isn't going to touch this poo poo, at least in a professional setting. edit: she isn't on the next iteration of whatever his sjish panel will be this year at pax either.

Amazingly, throughout this GB has come out even better than before because they are so proactive about the "hey we know this guy, we aren't reviewing the game but we will take the opportunity to give a bit of unique coverage to this part of the industry". They definitely had a blanket don't give money to the people making the games thing going on, which i think only Matt Rorie has done and he isn't editorial. But patrick is part of this mess, pretty deep.

someone post that interview GB did with nolan north where patrick was being a snide little oval office to nolan and where towards the end nolan called him out on it, and where the only reason nolan didn't make patrick's tooth fairy take a bulk order from the closest emergency room was that i think brad was there along with them (might have been ryan though)

Also, and this isn't just him, the complete lack of coverage by journalists about The Fine Young Capitalist's fund which is there to help female game devs is pretty shocking. No one wants to promote something that positive because they don't want to be deemed as being on the "anti Zoe" side. Hell you can't even post on the GB forums about the fund, even if there is no mention of Zoe Quinn and any of this, just funded this thing for women game devs, they shut it down, it's hosed up.
