That is true in my experience on hard also, but not on survivor. For survivor I had to save all shivs for doors, and even then I ended up skipping a door or two.

Until you discover the shiv glitch. If you pick up an upgraded melee weapon, you automatically get one full binding and blade to make shivs. So carry an upgraded melee weapon, and when you find a new melee weapon, swap back and forth. Every time you do, you'll get the ingredients to make shivs or upgrade a new melee weapon. So you can basically always have a supply of shivs and bladed weapons anytime you find a pipe laying around.

One of us is very confused with regards to our memories of Diablo 1 & 2.

FWIW I prefer exploration based games like Sacred in general... because I like exploring. So I'm with you on that. But, Diablo is just kind of color-in the small map on the way to each dungeon, if you want to. There isn't a well defined world to explore because it resets between games and as far as I'm aware that's the way it's always been. It's randomized for the same reason the dungeons are randomized because for the most part the overworld is essentially just a more open dungeon anyway.

And I don't care if it's crap... I want Sacred 3 on the PS4 dammit.

DrNutt I don't think you get Diablo. You miss the point of its genre. If you don't like it, and don't gel well with the mechanics of the game that literally every ARPG has, then you don't like it. The game is literally about doing the same thing over and over again with slight differences each time. It's understandable that some would seem turned off by it though. Most play it for the gambling slot-machine feel, which doesn't necessarily push the buttons in everyone's brain.

Besides playing TLoU in reverse on grounded+, this upgrade all weapons trophy is kind of ridiculous. I did my first play through on grounded and clearly did not get anywhere near the crafting parts as I did on easy, which still didn't get me fully upgraded. According to most trophy hunters they got it midway through their second playthrough. :qq:

Now I gotta decide to wait it out and get my platinum later in life, and not get burnt out, or grind this poo poo out and probably never touch the game again, maybe even trade it in.

What are the chances that inFamous:fl will be a holiday sale item? Given how frequently and cheap suckerPunch/Sony put the PS3 inFamous games on sale, I'm real hesitant to buy it now, despite my huge nerdboner for the inFamous franchise. The one and only review painted it pretty short and not that great in terms of powers, does anyone want to argue that?

I just feel bad for not being a typical fanboy and buying inFamous:FL day 1 with no hesitation. I mean I am even looking for a new game to occupy my time between TLoU grinding and WipEout2048 on the vita.

I do think first light as a psn+ title would be pretty tits, since I already have Second Sons.

edit; TLoU Why didn't that Marlene just take Ellie to the fireflys, again? She literally shows up at the same place, so she clearly knew where they were and it would have saved Joel a tremendous amount of effort. I get the whole game is around the escort quest and essentially Joel caring for Ellie, as if she is his daughter and the developing relationship they have, but it just reeks of really terrible lovely writing at the last minute for the Garage scene.

Like did no one in the QA office or a producer think, maybe, that they could rewrite that part of the game and put a generic soldier at the end, losing literally nothing, while keeping the exact same tone and everything. Hell just throw Marlene out or maybe write it as Tess offloading Ellie onto Joel, since her death would be a trigger for Joel to see the escort quest through to the end.

I figure with as many people involved with the game's design throughout cycle, someone would point out these silly stupid things that really take away from the greater picture.

She was badly injured and unable to do anything on her own for the time being, and as far as we could see had no one else in the area at that second that could do the job. She never expected Joel to take her across the country, she had men outside the city who could take Ellie further. It would have been over and done with in a day if not for everything going wrong. She catches up with their journey in the months they spend without a car/horse/with Joel half dead.

Having Ellie's mother figure show up at the end and get killed horribly by her surrogate father is pretty much the perfect way to end the story on a "No, really, Joel's totally a monster" note. Having him kill a generic soldier would have no emotional impact and players wouldn't question the morality of it. You seriously think that wouldn't change anything?

Replacing Marlene with Tess would be dumb, Joel cares about Tess and would know and care about keeping her daughter alive. The whole point is that Ellie's a stranger to him.

Because she was badly injured and there were other fireflies just outside the city. It couldn't be predicted that the rendezvous would get swept and as far as Marlene knew, she was dying from that wound. The other thing is the fireflies are not entirely good. They're very idealistic, but the game goes to great lengths to paint them grey. Typically in video games, "the resistance" is the good guys and "the government" are the bad guys, but that's not the case in TLOU so try to infer what you will with that.

I'm pretty sure Diablo 2 SP also had persistent maps, I guess to encourage people to hop online.

D3 seems to be a mix of SP just being private MP and the idea of content everywhere, even in old places. Obviously the downside to this is that playing in short bursts isn't as convenient.

I don't think Joel killing Marlene makes him a monster at all. He was protecting Ellie, and furthermore Marlene's organization, and by extension her, just attempted to murder him for the past hour of his life. Whether or not you agree with Joel's decision to protect Ellie and possibly harm the rest of humanity in the process is really on a personal level, but I really don't think he's evil for what he did there.

I see people call Joel anti-social all the time, but I don't really think they understand what that word/condition means. It's context driven and a post-apocalyptic society does not have the same morals/values as ours. Drake from Uncharted is way more "anti-social" and narcissistic than Joel ever was, given his blatant disregard for his friend's emotions and safety in search of monetary gain and fame.
