This is a super awesome game and whoever takes it better play it. (I didn't, obv, because I own it.) And the two step shuffle is an intended game mechanic. Don't feel like you're cheating doing it. You're not. The game is designed around it. You are supposed to be able to stick and move - there are going to be sections where the challenge is intentional design to prevent that. Grimrock 2 is coming soon and I'm super excited for that.

Yes, the levels quickly get insanely hard (impossible?) to do solo. Edit: Wow the internet is blowing up about the Walking Dead Season 2 ending. Apparently it turned everyone in to a blubbering mess. HardDisk posted:Shame I don't really play multiplayer anymore. It's definitely focused more on the co-op, but you can easily beat all the stages solo. The new character you can play as is really fun, too, and probably makes solo play easier because she can charm enemies into fighting each other. There's a selection of levels from OMD1 you can play with the new traps and weapons, as well. Endless mode is fun but you won't get far without two players.

I managed to get a perfect rating on every (non-DLC) level in Orcs Must Die 2 solo, on the hardest difficulty, (since my co-op partner wasn't interested in replaying them all for max skulls) so it definitely is possible. I guess it might depend on who you play as. I used the Sorceress and using her mind control ability was pretty vital to my play, so I don't know if the War Mage would work as well. It's also one of the few games I enjoyed so much I actually felt the desire to get a perfect on every level (I didn't in the first one), so you can take that as a definite recommendation from me.

Thanks to this thread, I had One Finger Death Punch on my radar. Picked it up from the humble weekly bundle and I got to say it's fun as hell. I'd definitely recommend you take a look at it if you haven't yet. Also, since this seems to be the 'general PC gaming' thread, I wonder if anyone could sum up the current progress of all the 'Dwarf Fortress-lites' that are in Early Access. Are any closest to being complete enough that they're worth a look? I currently have Gnomoria, Prison Architect, Spacebase DF-9 and Clockwork Empires on my watch list. Have I missed any other major ones? I figure the first two have the most content so far? God what I'd give for an Evil Genius 2.

Rimworld is another dwarf-fortress like to keep an eye on. It DF meets Firefly, kinda. You don't fly a ship around, but you have to build a colony and eke out a living in a sci fi universe with guns and nutrient paste dispensers (as opposed to swords and extensive irrigation works). Extensively moddable and in great shape for where it is, early access wise. Definately not complete yet but making good progress.

They have a thread in games and respond to witty comments. Prison Architect is playable, but still transforming. Spacebase DF-9 is meandering towards something and fun, but nowhere near complete. Gnomoria is playable and I have far too many hours in it. The addition of sacks, wheelbarrows and buckets transformed the game. You should take a look at Rimworld and Maia if you like the antfarms. Honourable mention to War for the Overworld, which is getting closer to being decent, although it's homage du dungeonkeeper rather than being a builder. Edit: Banished - it's a town builder where you have to balance needs and the building of new structures. On the tough side, but very pretty. I'm probably missing something very obvious, but how do you access soundtracks acquired in the Humble Bundle deals? I get the Steam keys no problem, but I don't remember any prompts for the soundtracks.

Forgot to mention this earlier, but: As part of the one year Anniversary of the FFXIV relaunch, Square Enix is holding a free login campaign that ends September 1st, in addition to the free trial they started recently. So if you already have an FFXIV account, you can log in for free, and if you don't, you can do the free trial. They're doing a bunch of neat summer fair events right now, so it's a good time to check it out. Also Square Enix recently put up a lyrics video showing off part of the Titan theme entitled "I Beat Titan," so if you wanted to see what people were talking about when they mention the metal-as-hell boss fight in FFXIV, here's your chance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmBU8eUWREU

Groupees. Whatever though, I'm going to keep buying like 90% of their bundles because I like the bundles themselves. If I get free pseudo money crazy people can think has value as a result, I'm ok with that.

Lance Streetman posted:Forgot to mention this earlier, but: As part of the one year Anniversary of the FFXIV relaunch, Square Enix is holding a free login campaign that ends September 1st, in addition to the free trial they started recently. A little more on that: The free trial takes you up to level 20 (out of 50). Now, the big thing to remember here is that level 1-15 is the tutorial segment (and Lv1-10 is only a couple hours if you don't waste time). The tutorial is a self-contained story arc about you being a fresh-off-the-boat newbie doing odd jobs, and working your way up to lesser acts of heroism. After that, the real plot begins and things get properly Final Fantasy'ish. Level 15-20 is where you get a taste of the real meat of the game, and it's all good stuff from there on up. A couple of nice dungeons in there (3 or 4, I believe) and it caps off with you throwing down with an elemental god at 20. Everything past that introductory arc is great, so bear with it. It's partly there to introduce you to the world (which is well designed and actually worth giving a drat about), and mostly there for folks who have never played an MMO before. Pfft, any level between 1 and the max level in WoW is essentially a tutorial segment.

Any good first person physics puzzlers out there? I have Portal 1 and 2, Qube, and Quantum conundrum. Also, how is Eldritch? A first person roguelike sounds pretty fun.

Level 1-10 is the first couple of hours if you're even halfway familiar with the genre. Things slow down a bit from 11-15, but not by much.

It's not literally a tutorial. You just get introduced to new concepts a lot. You still do even after hitting 50, but it's the most at 1-10.

God drat it Steam midweek sale promo image, I managed to avoid almost every spoiler about The Walking Dead Season 2 until you had to put a picture of Clementine holding a baby right in the promo image. Sure its not much of one and I'm a giant sperg for even complaining but now I'm just going to be waiting for that to show up

It's a simple little game that I wouldn't buy full price, but they discounted it massively for Lovecraft's birthday. I've been having a blast with it, but I'm not sure how deep it gets, having limited myself to punching cultists and fish-people. I did manage to hypnotise a fishperson to fight for me, but I think he was the last thing on a level.
