Gone Home just seems like a 5/10 game. Apart from the 90s atmosphere (which it nails), it doesn't do anything that well. Being able to inspect everything is neat, but the environmental storytelling is contrived. It's definitely too short, although being too long would hurt it (there's only so much you can do when your only gameplay element is "pick up object and look at it") I think most of the controversy is caused by the reception it got from game journalism and because of its more devoted fans, who are very obnoxious.
