Don't do this. In the past there have been those j4gs who didn't feel that they were dealt with fairly, and bringing real money into those kind of situations could lead to accusations of fraud. Stick with EC and other in game items for fees.

Can't stress this enough. I think Burning Monk had his heart in the right place -- that is, after all, how we used to handle things. However, after a number of promising young recruits didn't make the final cut, it became a real headache for everyone involved. That's why, to keep everyone happy, we ONLY accept items and ec as payment. Starfleet Dental has maintained a proud reputation for dismantling real money transaction scams for well over a year now, and, after all, we are our brother's keeper in this game. Well, they might be doing a Refit-style take with different seating, special consoles, and other such stuff. So even if it's the same "ship" it'd be as different as the Patrol Escort Refit was.

They already did that, it comes with the ablative armor console. Unless it they are refreshing it (it needs it).

As for that talk about terrible cryptic ship models, one only has to look at the chimera to realize even smooth lines was hard for the old modelers.

Did you know the chimera was one of the failed Odyssey design contest entrants? Well it was. While it was modeled in game by Cryptic it was "designed" by someone else entirely.

http://vektorvisual.com/blog/2011/01/15/star-trek-online-design-the-next-enterprise-contest-entry/comment-page-1/

So basically the reason is looks retarded is that it was supposed to be a far larger ship (Odyssey sized) and when they shrunk it down to the pocket destroyer it now is it became a space guppy.

I need help with a dilemma. I'm in a fleet that's close to maxed out, and have full store access since I since I'm tens of millions in donations to projects. At this point there's only a couple things I want that I don't have yet because they haven't been unlocked. Really, that's just the extra space doff spot and elite space weapons. The problem it that the fleet is a totally non-social batch of dudes grinding fleet projects, and it's getting boring. So would it be stupid to give up store access to run around with goons pissing off the general public? Cause I kinda want to.

*I really am honestly not backhanded fishing for fleet store access with a new fleet here, if it sounded that way. I just don't know if it'd be stupid to loose access in exchange for fun.

On a side note, does anyone have an opinion on the Tachyokinetic Lobi console? E-gambling seems dumb to me, so I hate the thought of popping boxes for a console that might suck.

As far as I know, nope. The only problem you may encounter (which you have already) is some difficulty acquiring fleet credits, since... well, everything's done, it's a big fleet, and it might be hard to dump stuff with all the competition.

In the past, it was often used for the extra turn rate bonus, crit chance and crit severity. In my opinion, the Tachyokinetic Converter isn't as uniquely beneficial to have as it once was, thanks to the Undine reputation console being functionally very similar. If you're looking for more turn, the Fleet Mine consoles can help with that. If you are looking to get more crit severity [CrtD], the Elachi Lobi console can help with that.

I have a couple fleet RCS consoles, and the hlemsman trait. I just went from an escort to a fleet Avenger for the durability, and was just wondering how to coax a little more maneuverability out of it. My crit % and damage are crazy high as it is, so that's not an issue. Not that I'd turn my nose up at it.

*Oh yeah, when I call up the info on the Tachyokinetic console it shows "29.9% Flight turn rate" listed twice in a row. Is that percentage applied twice, or is that an STO glitch in the info display?

It's a glitch. As for more maneuverability, try the Momentum trait off the exchange. For every 15 seconds in combat, you gain +2.5% turn rate and flight speed, up to 4 times.

NoP/Dental's projects usually get filled very quickly, especially the fleet marks, but if you're a fed, there's some goon run fleets which usually have projects needing a fleet marks dump. Strangle Neelix and whatever Pulse's fleet is called today. I think there's others kdf side too.

Thanks, I'll try that. I've almost bought it several times, but though it might be weird. Ironsides and Intense Focus work well, but I figured a sliding scale on ship handling would feel sketchy. Plus it'll be hard to decide which trait I can do without.

So my science R&D just hit 16 and the auto doff selection on Bonus Research now just selects a blue doff rather than a purp as that's all it needs for 100% crit, which is pretty nice.

And as someone was asking about the materials for the exotic particle field exciter consoles:

Components (total maximum raw material cost)

4 lab equipment (12 trionium gas, 8 duranium)
4 particle field generator (12 duranium, 8 hydrazine gas)
2 subprocessor unit (6 verteron particle, 4 tritanium)
2 eps regulator (6 hexaflourine gas, 10 thoron particle)
2 pressurisation chamber (8 tetrazine gas, 2 z-particle)
2 quantum field focus (6 tetrazine gas, 10 rubidium)
4 emitter array (8 trellium-k, 12 craylon gas, 2k dil)
3 signal enhancement module (15 plekton, 9 argonite gas, 12k dil)

For a grand total of:

20 duranium
12 trionium gas
8 hydrazine gas
6 verteron particle
4 tritanium
6 hexalfourine gas
10 thoron particle
14 tetrazine gas
2 z-particle
10 rubidium
8 trellium-k
12 craylon gas
15 plekton
9 argonite gas
14k dil

However if you crit producing the components you make multiples, so that can sometimes reduce the total cost of materials. It also takes 24 hours to run one build and on a crit the console will get a completely random bonus but at least be ultra rare for +31.9 partigens and 21.2% shield hp rather than the standard +30/20% ones.

This was good advice, thanks. The effect is subtle enough that you don't find yourself overcompensating, but it does make a noticeable improvement. Especially since it's only 7 million ec.

Okay, so part of the upgrade details are out: http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/7002133
A ship list of upgradeable ships is here: http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/7002163

1) It costs an (undetermined) amount of zen unless it's from a lockbox
2) The upgraded ships get 4 skill mastery levels instead of 5, no additional bridge officer ability, no specialist bridge officer seat and no ship trait
3) You won't need it for story content.

Well.

On the other hand, the upgrade unlock is account-wide, which is a lot more generous than I expected from a blatant cash grab. The trait thing doesn't surprise me too... that drastically reduces the amount of effort Cryptic has to spend adding one to all hundred-odd ships in the lineup. You'd still need a T6 ship to unlock one, but could use them in the upgraded ships once you have them, so... eh. Really, I'd prefer not to need this at all, but if they're going to force this on us it's about the most painless way of doing it. I guess.

Also for some reason the Fleet Chimera is upgradeable but the normal version isn't, despite the other two vet ships being so; :downs: And I guess the D'kyr and Guramba are lost to history now.
