Inflating prices is good for the consumer because it keeps game makers employed making games. If the market bottoms out because of Steam then nobody will be making games, thus preventing the consumer from enjoying new games. It all makes sense you see.

It turns out even Matrix can't lie to themselves about sales not working when their office gets buried in money every time their stuff goes on sale. E: At least I was under the impression it had? In the kindest way possible... UOC's AI is not one that you lose to, more like "win in a less totally overwhelming way." Largely because your troops/air force rolled badly. [e] UoC's AI has never come close to 'winning' a game, even when I was learning the system. Its partially due to the scenario style of the game and partially just the AI not understanding how to play the system (or perform more than the flimsiest encirclements.) Does the newer Combat Mission games (on the 3.0 engine) work on Win8? It doesn't show on the requirements, and for the life of me I can't get my version of Shock Force to even launch on Win8 (after patches as well).

This file plays when the game is first loaded. The solution is to simply prevent the game from trying to launch that file which is located in the Data folder. You can do this by renaming the file from its default name of Intro.wmv to something else like Intro.bak.

You should subscribe to a vpn, I wouldn't give a credit card through a proxy unless it was a 1 use dummy card. That's assuming battlefront can't fix whatever issue is banning your IP, maybe it's a regional thing?

AWS is a little more complicated to set up initially, but it is free for the first 12 months. You can just set up a Windows Server and remote desktop into it. Windows Server, at least 2008 and 2003 that I have used, work pretty much the same as normal windows if you just want to open a web browser.

Server 2012 is basically the same as Windows 8 () as far as the interface goes. So if you go that route, it's still not difficult. That's basically the nice thing about Windows based servers. They're fairly straightforward right up until the point you start trying to get it to do a bunch of crazy bullshit it really doesn't want to do.

What's the penalty like for encircled units in C:TGW? I'm running through an Entente game and I've isolated a German infantry division in Antwerp. It's on its third turn of isolation now and it's still an incredibly tough shell to crack, despite being without supplies for like 3 weeks. What gives?

It mostly hurts recovery of efficiency, but a full infantry unit in a fortress hex in half supply will be hard to destroy. You just have to pound it with shock attacks knowing that it won't recover the efficiency quickly enough. Or just place a garrison to ZoC it and move on.

It's on its third turn of isolation now and it's still an incredibly tough shell to crack, despite being without supplies for like 3 weeks. What gives? Any town or fortress hex that produces PP will keep units there in half supply (indicated by a yellow dot), and if it's a fortress hex it's going to be really loving tough. You just gotta whittle it down over time since your units can recover efficiency faster and regardless of supply situation a unit can only recover 2 strength points per turn max. On the other hand encircled units that are out of supply totally (red dot) are completely combat ineffective and will take huge losses in any attack they make or defend against.

Units have to be within 50 or so hexes from a capital to get full supply. It's why Russia has multiple capitals.
