Star Trek has always pandered to nerds by putting the women with the (perceived) best bodies in revealing uniforms. Deanna Troi in early TNG needed a truss and glue to hold her uniform on.

The Feds have always had a multitude of uniforms both in canon and in STO. While I understand the reasons for doing so in STO (zen), I always thought that the only legitimate uniform variation should be time related.

If I want a Klingon in a science ship and i'm not willing to blow the money on a lockbox or lobi ship, should I look at giving in and buying a DSD?

As far as I can tell the other alternative is literally gearing a Bird of Prey with Sci skills.

The Gorn ships are straight up science vessels, and the Varanus was literally given away free yesterday, so... :v: Although honestly they're kinda mediocre, way too little tac. My klank sci's been messing around during the CCE event with a dyson ship and it works well enough there.

Nah, not likely to happen. There's a number of goons people who have massive control over the economy, but most players don't, and having the pretense of being able to earn things in game goes a long way. Even if it's just "well I can't afford the whole thing, but I can afford to take $10/20/whatever off it with the dilithium I have".

The Vo'quv is pretty science heavy. You don't get sensor analysis but otherwise it's a solid science boat. The cheap but great BoP pets are really nice as well. The I use the fleet version on my science klank.

Yeah, I looked at the Varanus and thought 'man, that is one meh-rear end ship'. I was hoping T6 would give us a reasonable Klank sci ship but I guess not.

If I do get a DSD, I assume I should get the Tactical?

Alternatively I can blow nine thousand zen on stuff I can sell to raise money for a temporalsci but so expensive. (It's what I really want to do but then I go 'wait, poo poo, 9k zen')

Happy as a birb can be.
If you're thinking of getting a Dyson Science Destroyer, go for the one with the proton destabilizer module, it does pretty hilarious damage (I know because I own this ship). Would you be getting the klank temporal sci I can't remember what it's called, the Korath? If you like sci ships have you looked at the Voth Palisade Sci Ship?

Also looks like the initial Delta Quadrant stuff is up on tribble. Not a lot, just the introductory missions and the already announced STF. Some observations...

* The Weapon System Efficiency cruiser command seems gone entirely, and no ship I tested had access to it. Presumably a bug but who even knows.
* The Advanced queue is hilariously painful even on a well-geared 50. Borg probes had 350k hull. :suicide: Hadn't tried the normal yet considering the hour and how hard it is to get queues popping, but it's pretty clear that the advanced queue for that is intended for 60's. And either gear will be scaling really really heavily, the new trait things will do a hell of a lot, or both.

Hmm. So the enemy has either caught up with or completely surpassed our power levels.

There's bound to be people salivating over the 'challenge' and possibly over 'now people need to learn the game properly'. I wonder how crazy it'll be, especially for people who simply don't have the power that a lot of people have at present.

Those ship specialisations they're re-introducing and ship skills are gonna have to do a lot of work, it seems.

I find myself...concerned. I like carrier play, generally. Klingon is in Mirror Vo'Quv, Romulan is in Falchion, Fed is in Risian Cruiser but possesses an ordinary Obelisk. All will be obsoleted over time save the Scimitar(Zen Upgrade) and Risian(Free Upgrade).

9k Zen worth of R&D packs roughly equals about 288 mil if sold at 8mil per R&D pack, so you could get based on the cheapest one on the exchange right now 270 mil, a temporal science vessel, or for about half the price, 110 mil a Voth Palisade Sci Vessel (it's a really good science ship which comes with a console that makes the ship itself an aceton assimilator so if you have that console already, double the aceton assimilator power).

Hell if you bought the Palisade, you could buy the Bastion flight deck cruiser as well and get the immunity shield console from that ship and run the two piece which is a cloak. Or you could ignore everything I've said, wait for the expansion and buy some cool stuff in that.

Those fed ships look fabulous, what a shame I play KDF and have to make do with those sleek, elegant warships.

Actually, the first thing that the fed skins reminded me of was the catbus so maybe the furries will take a more central stage with the fed exploration of the Delta quadrant.

That said, the Guardian Cruiser might look decent if they have an alternative nacelle pylon option that moves them to a less derpy position. But they haven't really been doing alternative parts lately.

Huh, I guess you're right. It's one of the Galaxy Variants whose parts you can only use at T3 and as far as I can tell they didn't bother enabling at T5 when they released the retrofit versions because they were so horrible.

But good enough for T6!

And from here, things started to go wrong.

And my favourite, the USS Dildosquid

The fed ships are atrocious, but the Romulan ships are loving amazing (the T6 and the Dyson are nuts). I can't think of a single Romulan ship that's a visual turd - even the worst ones (Haapax and crew) are miles ahead of the worst federation ships. And the Klingons are getting pretty good stuff too.

The Dyson and Intelligence crusiers just don't match that Starfleet aesthetic. Federation ships are very curvy and rounded and don't have a lot of sharp edges. That crusier is very blocky and flat. As alien ships these would be fine, but they don't look like Federation ships at all.
