It's been a long time since I've seen it, but Encino Man maybe? It's got the 80's/90's aesthetic and the whole schtick was that Paulie Shore was a frozen caveman. It doesn't really fit the whole "it happened in the actual movie" thing, but t was the first thing I thought of.
