Man, you really feel the loss of Per Möller Jensen. The album wants really badly to be One Kill Wonder part 2, but Erlandsson's helicopter drumming just isn't doing it for me.

Would explain why their last couple of albums have sounded like the same (boring) band.

I don't think they sound much like Metallica. More like Storm of Light's Bane/Somberlain era Dissection, and Unleashed.

The title track sounds suspiciously like Nightmares Made Flesh Bloodbath riffing. Weird.

The band must be pissed that CM is calling it a "comeback album." It kind of puts a lot of label pressure back on the band to make AtG a permanent project again. The timing of the teaser is weird too; they were obviously waiting to put it out until just after the new Haunted was released.

Have they said this is only a one time thing? I was hoping for more output. :(

I love that this sounds like a mix of Slaughter and Terminal Spirit Disease just based on that little clip. Gonna be a long month and a half wait for this.

I hate to ask about intangible subjective qualities like this, but what bands are best for evoking the feeling of magic rituals? Not like "sacrifice a virgin on a flaming pentagram drawn in blood" rituals, but closer to "stab the athame into the chalice and dance naked in the woods" rituals. I haven't been huge into metal since I was twelve, but I'm looking for stuff with the feeling of Sabbath, Rainbow, or prison-era Burzum (even though it's not really metal). Zeppelin also counts, although that's less metal than Burzum.

Ghost are probably your best bet. They have an airy occult mystique about them.

Can anyone recommend bands like Children of Technology that are essentially soundtracks to driving about a post nuclear wasteland in a pick up truck with a machine gun stuck in the back fending off raiders?

Mitochondrion, Antediluvian and Inquisition are good for the occult ritual feeling. Murmuure are what you want if you're doing a ritual while tripping balls. And Melechesh and Dying Out Flame have a bit of a ritual feel what with all the chanting.
