The only difference between then and now is what we're reading. PriorMarcus posted:Yeah, BUT, have you ever considered that maybe social media is like a drug? Deep poo poo. Deep poo poo. The story of the gigantic loving head. sbaldrick posted:I ask this from a country with different cultural norms the the US, but to people go around randomly touching people in your country. It's even weirder because I'd say it is actually less a thing in the US than other countries like for instance France where kissing people on the cheek is a thing. Hell I cringe when I'm supposed to shake hands. I avoid handling cash whenever I can too so maybe I just have issues. Don't touch me. kiimo fucked around with this message at 18:50 on Sep 9, 2014 |

Speaking as someone who had a similar hairstyle, yes. I had kept it short for most of my life but finally decided to grow it out some 8 years ago. The difference it made was nothing short of remarkable. Previously, folks found me imposing due to my height (6'8"), but all of that evaporated once I grew out the hair. Men and women, young and old would ask to touch my hair, complement me on it, ask for tips. A couple years back I decided to cut half of it off and the stylist tried for several minutes to talk me out of it. Once she finally started cutting, a small crowd formed to watch. I never thought my hair was all that big a deal until the reactions proved otherwise. Edit: Erebus posted:There is a definite thing with white people wanting to touch natural black hair. I think American goons won't get it. Not even the phrase in it. They did a few parody posters, and so far this was the only good one. A little explanation, there's an old series of comedy movies with a main character called "La India Maria", the woman in traditional clothes in there. "Matanga dijo la changa" ("Matanga the she-monkey said") means nothing. It simply something you shout when you snatch something. I believe it would be the Mexican version of "yoink".
