What's the goon consensus on the M1903A1 scoped? I've maxed out Sniper assault and am currently rolling with Chrome lined barrel, Lightened spring, Marksman's sights MK 1, Marksman trigger jon and Bertie-Clay. Good? Bad? Please enlighten me.

I haven't used it exactly, but I'm gonna assume the stats are the same as the K98. I've been using an unscoped K98, but I have (I think?) the same upgrades so that it's a 1-hit kill on the body, and it's a loving beast.

Exhibit A:

I had a good position at the beginning and it was just a shooting gallery of Americans at 200m, finally got counter-sniped after 10 kills. I'm a big fan of the 1HK setup because even if you get caught in close quarters, a well-placed snapshot will put them down. And if you manage to sneak up close behind a couple of guys, it doesn't take multiple hits for each of them, and it's unlikely they'll immediately figure out where you are since they're not getting the damage direction indicator before they're dead. The only issue I have with the setup is the repair/reload cost -- if I'm firing a lot of shots, all my credits at the end are going to ammo, the Bertie-Clay is not cheap.

You are correct... I was being facetious. Everything is unlock-able with credits you can grind out.

(on a side note: just ignore the recent patch with the new mammoth XP requirements and now needing to reach the rank of General to effectively play the RTS portion of the game. Don't run off to buy gold, they will likely lower the requirements down to reasonable levels again *soon*)

The Shreck price is insane. It's like 300 a rocket, and you get basically diddly squat for blowing up a tank. Are the AT grenades still the same insane price? Taking out a handful of tanks means you ain't getting paid for this fight.

They just really only want tanks and planes to kill tanks here.

Edit: And we can't taunt the other side anymore? :(

I just started playing and I noticed the same thing. On the other hand, Tellermines are really cheap and you can set them off with a grenade (maybe gunshots?) for semi-cheap kills on stationary guys at least. Then again, on the subject of price: I've "unlocked" the MP40 in two days of playing but it costs ~$130,000 and I've got, what, $9000 after buying replacement explosives and maybe a Kubel/Mines so far? Yikes.

How do you change your loadout in a match? Do i seriously need to guess whether i'll need a submachine gun or a rifle before i enter a battle? :psyduck:

Also, who had the bright idea of forcing you to leave a squad if you need to check\upgrade your equipment?

To change loadout in a match you need multiple soldiers. I have one with a Semi-auto and the shrek, and another with the starter SMG. Other than that there is no way.

And yeah, the credit grind in this game is insane.

Edit: At least the gameplay has improved quite a bit. Just too bad that everything outside the battle is still floundering after this long.

You can change loadout by exiting the game and equipping the new equipment. Then, enter the battle again. You have 2 minutes though, then you cant rejoin.

As of the latest patch, when you do this you need to leave the squad (if you are in a squad) to change weapons, which is annoying. A workaround might be to exit the application entirely, and it may work on restart. If it takes you a while to login again, and is too slow, you will be out of luck.

I'm not sure I understand this game's credit system. Shooting down a P-38 (including kill message) and AT-mining ~5 tanks in one round is worth ~400 credits? I think I'd get more credits by literally never killing anyone and just driving to the nearest cap zone to stand in it?

The best way to earn credits is to get multiple characters salaries per match. You do this by playing each character for at least 10 minutes in a match.

Could at least flip one or two, maybe.
You have to be in the battle as a character for 50% of it or be actively spawned in as the character for ten minutes.

The 50% thing is just for weird instant routs.

Hey, this game is pretty neat. It looks and feels like BF1942, which I assume where the inspiration came from. Unfortunately, there are some annoying issues that are more at home in a 2005 game, not 2014. Like mouse acceleration, no gamma slider, the horrendous color filter and lack of Alt+Tab option. Does anyone know how to disable or modify any of those things? But at least it's free and paying money does not offer any in game advantage.

A) they hired actually competent people after 3 years of terrible choices
B) i had a decent free to play FPS game to play with my scrooge friends

I think I could tolerate the grind if the FPS portion was more polished, or tolerate the janky unpolished FPS part if the grind were easier, but both taken together really sink a good game concept of "Battlefield with a persistent strategic metagame" once the novelty wears off.

Well, you do have to reload your tanks and such, but then again, it's a fraction of compensation you get from simply showing up.

I've tried loading up K98 rifle with every mod and ammo that increases damage. Still, not a 1 shot kill unless applied to the head. What gives? All I hear is everyone bitching about those dreaded "1 shot rifles", but haven't seen one in person. I've taken sniper shots that took my health down to 10%, but no instakill unless "headshot". I want RO bolt action supremacy, damnit. Definitely regret spending all that in game money on the rifle and mods, something like 250k total.

This is my K98 setup:

It's definitely a 1-shot at ranges I think just under 200m (I honestly have no idea how much damage drops off over range). I think it actually pisses a lot of people off. Maintenance can be pretty high in long games, but as long as you're not firing willy-nilly, it's definitely manageable. My "weapon mod cost" at the final score screen is typically <2000 credits.

edit: I don't know how popular the "Heavy Set" badge is, but that reduces damage taken, so I guess it's not completely guaranteed. But, 75% of the time it works every time.

I agree with the recent sentiments about the xp grind, though. I don't have credit problems, but I've been rank 10 for like 30 goddamn games, and it'll be I don't even know how many more before the first officer rank at 12. I can't even imagine what it's like after that, unless your soldier gains xp from their ATs fighting, which I think they do? But still, I have a feeling going from 14 to 15 is probably something absurd like 150k xp.

I'll give your setup a try, but I ignored mods that didn't increase damage.

After playing German since the beginning, I decided to join Allies on new war yesterday. Instantly regretting that decision. The players seem much worse, bickering, arguing and just spamming chat with dumb poo poo. And the general stupidity is though the roof. I assume it's because the first time players jump on allies, like they do in most games, and are probably just trying it out and want to dick about. Like running cars into trees and fences, murdering 4 passengers in the process. That kinda poo poo shapes the rest of the match.

I watched a lone German assault trooper capture train station by himself, while I picked off his reinforcements. He killed like 9 people in the row, not by doing anything amazing, but by simply using strategy to flank and murder people in and around the building. It's really apparent how wide is the gap between casual shooter players and people who obviously broke their teeth on more realistic platforms. And when you give them BARs and AP mines, they are a force not to be reckoned with.

Also, after 40 hours in game, decided that it's worth spending $26 on. Is there anything that gets me best bang for the buck as far as spending that gold? 5k I think.

Also, how many equipment slots does paratrooper get?

I loving hate how nothing is explained anywhere. The infantry tutorial is "Here is a gun, shoot mans, have a badge!". Plane controls? Who gives a gently caress. Figure it out by using up half of your team's resources in combat. Hope it wasn't a decisive battle!

I wish the weapon, and especially vehicle damage models were just copy/paste from RO/DH. I don't care that k98 bolt is modeled wrong and Garand pings on every reload. But having people continue aimng after taking 5 smg rounds to the torso is sickening.

I love the world map, detailed multi-use maps and overall progression system. It really makes those battles more worthwhile and creates unique environments. It's the actual small potato mechanics that keep dragging it down.

Does this game have some sort of matchmaking? It seemed like the first couple days I was playing and was low rank I never ran into scoped rifles. Now that I'm a bit higher playing infantry isn't fun anymore as there always 2-3 scopes rifles on the enemy side totally locking down every chokepoint.
