I'm actually surprised by how much hate the zencomics are getting. They are pretty bland self-helpy style things (just "inspirational" quotes with some illustrations), I never expected people to have a strong opinion on them. The social media one is pretty melodramatic, is that why everyone is getting so mad? Anyhow, have some Nedroid because it is great and always makes me happy.

From the apogee of both journalism and art, the Daily Mail, come these wonders of comic creativity. See if you can spot the funnies. Note that the "artists" of these comics are PAID regularly for their work, then puzzle how such a thing is possible - feel free to speculate. N.B. I did not buy the Daily Mail; someone left it at my house.

If you just glance over these comics they're kinda meh but if you actually take a minute to look at it you just spot more and more things that are off about them. The background perspectives are always subtly wrong, for example, usually in ways that aren't immediately obvious but give you a vague "Nawww, something ain't right" vibe about the environment the characters appear in. The characters all have the requisite facial features in approximately the correct place and they're often exaggerated similarly to cartoony caricatures you might see in other comic strips but they're in a weird not-quite-cartoony-enough but simultaneously not-quite-genuine-enough middle ground where they're just ... wrong. The dialogue sounds more like stuff a 40 year old shut-in playing with his anime dolls would come up with rather than anything that actual humans might say. They're a bunch of vaguely inhuman figures in a subtly claustrophobic, warped environment saying words that could almost pass for genuine human interaction. And that's before we even get into the characters' personalities or the plotlines.

It's the webcomix equivalent of backpfeifengesicht. It's the pretentious air, the terrible execution, calling the Bat Affleck tweet hating. Such a lovely mix that invites dropping a cruise ship anchor sized poo poo on the entire thing and just watching it sink. Which I will gladly do again and again with a smile on my face.

They're mad because they're the kind of people the author is criticizing. Despite being unfunny, completely hamfisted in its execution, and pretentiously trying to point out something that everyone with half a brain has already noticed as if it were wise and new, the message of that comic is basically correct. Which is why watching people get so unreasonably pissed off about it is far more entertaining than the comic itself.

Never mind that his own chosen hero for the comic basically said his own industry is largely a pile of poo poo. The gist is that the guy just does so much of this poorly thought out, juvenile crap about ~*~believing in yourself~*~ that it's hard to believe any of it came from an adult. I don't think many people are actually angry so much as they're pointing out how stupid this dude is. Don't get too worked up about it.

Well obviously she can't change when she gets there. Also I am amazed you managed to find the select few MoJ strips that didn't need to have 50,000 tits or crotches censored over in a tasteful way, such as copying and pasting the ugly facial expressions like the GBS webcomics thread is doing whenever it gets posted there.

Actually the first thing I noticed was the terrible, colored font put in the similarly-colored word balloons. poo poo's completely unreadable.

Half the word balloons also seems to have testicles. Well, a testicle. Also for some reason the characters' hands and arms always have way too much texture and detail so it looks like these 20-something girls all have Mr Burns arms. Edit: I would like to stop thinking about this webcomic please. I've already given it wayyyyyyyy more thought than I really wanted to and I've only really seen it via this thread. Like the #hate story where the "creative" people are lead by Hayao Miyazaki. The thing about Miyazaki is that while he creates these wonderful animated films he is also a very harsh critic.

http://www.viruscomix.com/subnormality.html I still don't know how to feel about this webcomic - on one hand the art is nice (the sample above is from some time ago, if you'll look at the newest one you'll see the difference), the stories are robust and interesting; on the other - the amount of moralizing (and quality of it) is staggering, and irritating (especially in the beginning strips).
