You will probably start to see some TV->film integration, as opposed to just the reverse, beginning with AOU, but that's unlikely to ever be anything more than relatively small cameos or Easter eggs. DATABASE-199999 ACCESSED SECURITY CLEARANCE: LEVEL 7 DATA COPYING ---WARNING: SPOILERS--- DOWNLOADING FILES... TRANSMISSION EXPECTED TUESDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER 9PM EASTERN STANDARD MONITOR CHANNEL ABC Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division Following the birth of the Super-Soldier and the rise of HYDRA in World War II, surviving members of the Strategic Scientific Reserve banded together to face the growing threat of the metaphysical to the borders of the United States of America. They formed the shadow operation called the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, informally known as SHIELD. Funded by noted weapons manufacturer Howard Stark and overseen by the military's top general, Chester Phillips, the organisation was run by commended SSR field agent Margaret Carter (Corporal, 1st Class). In the 1950s, they were notably joined by the defected Nazi scientist Arnim Zola. SHIELD flourished in the background through the 20th century, becoming an international sanction-free taskforce answering only to the World Security Council. In mid 90s, directorship was given to Nick Fury (Colonel, with Honors), a veteran of espionage missions. Under his leadership, SHIELD's reach grew to cover the whole world, overseeing the safety of the world from bases such as the Helicarrier, the Triskelion and the Fridge. During this time Fury worked on gathering together the best field agents in the world including names such as Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton. When the metaphysical returned with Tony Stark's transformation into Iron Man, Fury put into action a plan referred to as the Avengers Initiative: to bring together a group of powerful individuals to prepare them to face threats to the world that could not be faced by anyone else. Stark was joined by SHIELD's own Romanoff and Barton; a God of Thunder from a world revealed beyond the sky, Thor; the uncontrollable alter-ego of respected physicist Bruce Banner, the Hulk and the original Super-Soldier from World War II, Steve Rodgers, who had been discovered frozen in suspended animation in the Arctic Circle. After the Chitauri invasion of New York, SHIELD and the Avengers were revealed to the world. With the threat to the world greater than ever, SHIELD was granted new powers with which to defend humanity. Fury initiated Project Insight, a worldwide security network to proactively strike against threats. Unfortunately, Project Insight was hijacked by the return of HYDRA, which had survived as a splinter group within SHIELD itself ever since the recruitment of Zola. The rebirth of HYDRA decimated SHIELD, leaving few loyal agents alive. The highest level SHIELD man left alive was one Philip Coulson, a company man with long years of tenure. Leading his own team of specialists Coulson fought back against HYDRA, destroying their Centipede cell as led by Jonathan Garrett. With Fury retreating into hiding, the title of Director of SHIELD passed on to Coulson. Now he must end the existence of HYDRA and protect the world from all threats both from this world and beyond, and we are watching. Agent Files PHIL COULSON Alias: Clark Gregg Role: Director of SHIELD Background: Despite appearing to lose his life during the Chitauri invasion, Coulson survived to resume running operations for SHIELD. While his team has been damaged by the depths of HYDRA's infiltration, they continue to strive to uphold the ideals that saw the founding of SHIELD. In his new position as Director, Coulson's task is to rebuild SHIELD while uncovering the details behind his apparent resurrection. Under the instruction of Garrett, Centipede gave him a cybernetic leg and further modifications. I think they are more likely to use him as a recurring antagonist, and maybe even occasional reluctant ally when facing poo poo that's bigger than SHIELD vs Hydra.

Ward, pissed at his defeat by Agent May, escapes wherever they are holding him and goes on a quest for supervillain powers in order to take down the team. That would be fun. I don't see how they could do a redemption with a straight face considering he straight up murdered people. You don't really come back from that in TV shows.

Dying to save the team would be the only redemption really available. It's more that he killed allies in cold blood of his own free will and betrayed the team under no duress. Deathlok killed people yet there's hardly even anything to redeem there. I could still see him being "on the team" in a real crisis though. If hydra discover Skye's father is about to set off a terrigen mist bomb in the atmosphere I could see him teaming up with shield to stop it, especially if there's a late betrayal. Probably to do with hydra wanting it for themselves (to use selectively not set off worldwide).

I'm watching the first season again to get ready for the next, and I just picked up on a neat subtle bit of foreshadowing in Turn, Turn, Turn. After Skye decrypts the Hydra message, Coulson says that a hydra will always come back if you cut off the head. Garrett then asks, "Is it a head? I thought it was a limb" with a confused look on his face as he realizes their logo was wrong. Even better, it foreshadows Coulson's line about how Garrett never was good at paying attention.

So, this bit from the Mockingbird wikipedia page:Wikipedia posted:To cope with a mortal injury she sustained in a mission, Mockingbird was injected with an experimental serum combining the Super Soldier Serum that gave Captain America his strength and the Infinity Formula that has slowed Nick Fury's aging. The obvious consequence of this was that her injuries were healed, but Fury admitted his uncertainty about the formula's long-term consequences on her biology. Thus far, however, she has exhibited greatly enhanced physical strength and agility. Might Mockingbird end up as another Tahitian?
