Amazons start out strong because of their skills, but their weak stat line means they don't develop too impressively. At higher TVs you'll be playing teams that have good stats and useful skills while the Amazons have mostly the same unimpressive stats and some more skills that aren't as essential.

Alternately just develop your team until they all have block/dodge and the blitzers all have guard and mighty blow and stop levelling them.

They are crap anyway, av7 is just too bad on a ag3 team to ever work. As soon as you hit 1200-1300 tv and every non noob team got 2 tackle POMB players they are dead.

The only way to make a amazon team is to keep it below 1100 tv with blodge on all players and pray that you never face dwarves.

You say this, but I'm running a Norse team at the moment, up to 1600 tv now, and have managed to take only one permanent injury on a non-lineman thus far, and have won or tied 3/4ths of my games. Low AV is runnable, it's just a matter of making sure you knock down or outnumber whenever possible.

The only setting a norse team can work in is a very short league, where you can get a tv advantage and keep it. A norse team has no way to compete against orcs which are simply better in every way. That you can win some games with norse dosent change the fact that they are a gimmick team that can't compete at medium to high TV because the get outbashed by everything that dosent have ag4. That you are able to beat some scrubs with your norse team dosen't change the fact that norse are a really bad team.

Norse and Amazon are bad teams at 2000+ TV, sure. But by that measure anything that's not chaos basically loses out. Saying they're bad because Norse only wreck faces up to 1500 is dumb and misses the point of a game aimed for limited duration leagues.

They have 1 higher armor at the cost of 1-2 fewer skills and less movement at equal TV. At super high TVs this won't matter, but up to 2000 TV 1-2 extra skills per player can mean a lot. Also: rookie linemen with Block is a boon; it helps keep TV lower for longer.

ZigZag posted:

Everything that can naturally outbash the Norse is slower than the Norse and can be screened on the defense. On the offense all it takes is one hole and the Norse can break away from most bash teams. They aren't so different from playing higher strength, lower agility Dark Elves.

I'm playing against other goons, most of which have significantly more experience than me, who only picked up the game a few months ago. That your haven't managed to figure out how to play non-specialist teams doesn't change the fact that Norse are completely playable. The way you talk you would think the only races you think are worth playing are Chaos, Skaven, and Wood Elves.

Hey stop playing with full rosters of OP positionals in your busted rear end french version of Blood Bowl. A new season of Goon Lino League is now accepting team applications on Fumbbl and it is going to be a lot of fun.

Played a game against Ogres, and despite his TV being like 150 lower than mine, he killed a Skink, maimed one (-1 AV), and injured the other 2 who leveled from the experience. He did play to character, not touching the ball once allowing Dr House, Krox MD to get his second TD.

Wearer of Compasses. Slayer of Gods. Champion of the Colosseum. Heart of the Void.
Saviour of Hallownest.
As the owner of the orc that died by GFI. This is basically standard for the team.

I think they're something like 2-4-8 down now because I'm just so so awful with orcs/at rolling POWs. I still love them despite their terrible naming tradition "Take a consonant, add Orc to the end," if only because they are led by the amazing blitzer, Zorc the Dark One.

My Wood elves on the other hand consistently do me proud, even in 4-3 losses to Skaven, which basically became, "Who will gently caress up their 2TTD, first?"

Not in the current edition of the game, no. They've been announced as one of the Blood Bowl 2 teams available at launch. No word on what they'll look like, but rosters like this one have been around for a while.

Wow that is a weird roster. Bashy skill access but AV 7-8 and start with anti-bash skills?

Basically a human team with worse passing game but some skills? Norse-ish? I kinda like it, but with 6 races at the start I don't really think they should have a spot.

Regarding this, what's the most likely outcome for goon presence in the game? First-day buy? Slowly moving from 1 to 2 as they add teams? Massive influx next time they have a Steam sale?

Myself, it'll probably depend on whether they fix journeymans not counting towards TV and a couple other things.

It really depends on how broken the game is going to be. Seeing as how this is Cyanide we're talking about, I don't think a lot of people here are going to jump on buying it when it comes out.

Depends how they price it and what the DLC situation is.

If they're doing day 1 team packs, I'll at least wait until there's a bulk sale on the lot. I don't play enough cyanide to have even bought chaos edition.

Unless there are major upgrades, I won't be switching till most of the teams are available.

Even with the bugs of bb1 I don't see any reason to upgrade to bb2. Are there any major rule changes to the board game that would warrant a bb2? I can not see the mechanics changing much so all we will be getting is a slightly prettier game that may have better league options with the huge downside of fewer teams?

Adding in cards and the rest of the star players would be pretty nice. Not much point to getting bb2 if neither of those are in though.

I will buy Blood Bowl 2 immediately if it displays what you need to roll when you try to dodge instead of just a big red square, especially if it comes with other UI improvements on top of that. I will wait for it to go on sale otherwise.

I played FUMBBL a couple times and I really like a lot of the little things it does, but the visuals of Cyanide help me learn what the hell I'm doing better. Give me a Blood Bowl that does the little FUMBBL upkeep things and I'll be happy, even if it doesn't have FUMBBL's crazy customizability.

I like Cyanide's Blood Bowl and I'll probably buy BB2 within the first week. It is a pretty game and BB2 looks even prettier.

But I'll still play FUMBBL if I want more than a one-off team for a handful of games in a public league or for playing with tgbloodbowl's new folks.

Not officially. Your roll + agility + modifiers has to be 7 or greater. Dodging has a built in +1 modifier. Same with almost all ball rolls.

I know. I was specifically talking about dodge rolls. It's easier to remember 6-agi, for me at least.

So the Big Crunch, a perpetual 5 division league over at bbtactics.com, started up it's 6th season this week. Opened up the season with a win playing my Khemri team Your a Nation. Felt good after winning in the bottom division last season with a fresh Khemri team.

That being said, anyone have any suggestions for large inducements? I'm looking at them pretty much the entire season. I usually go with wizard, reroll, and now that I have some players gaining value an igor. I don't see much use in the Cyanide Khemri star players, especially for their cost.

If you're playing against a minimalist team with hardly any rerolls the halfling chef can wreak havoc on them. But yeah, wizard is pretty much the gold standard for expensive inducements.

how much for inducements? i play undead in the top divisions of the OCC so i play with atleast 500 in inducements most matches.

Under 500:

option 1

1. always get the wizard, even as khemri, you cant use it the same as fast teams but its still the best inducement there is.

2. against bash teams get the babes, when you have the worst linemen in the game keeping your positionals in the game is key.

3. fill up on bribes

option 2
wizard and masterchef against teams that lack rr or dont have a lot of skill rr's.

over 500

wizard, st4 strip ball dude, babes and bribes.

The khemri star player is cheap and reliable, sure loner sucks but he has a some good good useful skills.

Don't get rr or igor, unless there is nothing left to buy. RR are not that usefull for khemri, you only need them for your tg blocks, since you dont roll any ag rolls with khemri (except for the sure hands pick up).
