"To be quite frank, Platinum sucks at making games. Vanquish was terrible and Metal Gear Rising: Revengance was so boring it put me to sleep."

Check out this track recorded from the John Peel show (British d'n'b fans will remember him breaking a lot of good tracks in the later '90s):

Here's a proper full length of that track, which was from the mid-90s actually.

The Advocate actually originally recorded under the name Zero Zero during the early 90s Hardcore days, putting out a couple of blinders like this and this out on Kickin' Records. Anyway they were from down Manchester way if I remember right. Always loved their first single on their own Criminal Communications label.

R.I.P John Peel :cripes: He was a fantastic selector/DJ in the radio sense. He'd play Roy Orbison one moment, then Acen the next, and his Peel Sessions were fantastic. That voice is still so recognisable :(

Got something to share if anyone likes Jungle/Hardcore with a bit of 90's DnB spliced in from Koollondon.com's archives. (Originally THE Kool FM, best pirate station in the country/world, I reckon)

Nice one. Really liked seeing what's probably the best track off that Skeptical EP on Soul:R on there. Picked that up on 12" a wee while ago. And you know me, buying modern D&B doesn't happen often, though on saying that it's been happening more and more over the past 12 months or so. Sacrilege. Where's that Alix Perez track off of btw? Really dug that too.

Not too sure on the Ivy Lab mix of Anushka, but I'll recommend the original LP on Brownswood to anybody. On a soul tip so a bit out of place here, but it's so sweet.

"Feelings Of Regret" was a free d/l from Shogun before his second LP: https://soundcloud.com/shogunaudio/alix-perez-feelings-of-regret

Got to see him DJ last week too, was a great set. First time he's played DC, and only the fourth dnb show I've been to in 2014.

And not dnb, but looks like Soul:R has another sister label now, Birdie, set up for Marcus Intalex's Trevino project. Think I read George from Commix has an EP coming out as Endian on it.

A nice one, that'll be why a quick search didn't bring it up on a 12" or whatever. Thanks for reminding me about the Birdie thing too. I remember reading about it when it was announced but had absolutely forgotten about it somehow.

If you're into Hospital stuff, subscribe to their YouTube channel and make sure you turn e-mail subscriptions on. They'll usually upload at least a few things per week. For example, with Metrik's new album (which I still have yet to listen all the way through), they uploaded previews of every single track leading up to the album's release, and then after the album came out, they uploaded full versions of every single track.

New Spor album being mastered! Saw this article with some interesting commentary on the DnB scene from Mr. Gooch: http://www.youredm.com/2014/10/20/spor-album-mastering-phase/ . I find it hard to believe that the house music scene labels are any less greedy than the DnB scene, but hey whatever, new Spor album!

Depends how you want to digest them. If you're just looking to check out anything and everything, use sites like Beatport, Junodownload etc. where you can search by date and preview everything. If you're looking for recommendations, sites like that usually have playlists by certain DJs, otherwise check out places like dnbforum or (to a lesser extent these days) Dogs On Acid. If you're just looking to follow certain artists and labels, subscribe to their Soundclouds and YouTubes, or again you can use web-shops for email notifications.

One of my friends who's a hip-hop producer sent me this track he made the other night and it uses a chopped up version of the same exact sample from No Hurry Time by Logistics :staredog: I was listening to it the first time and thinking "This sounds really familiar. Where have I heard this sample befo--OH WAIT! YEAH!" I listened to No Hurry Time, and sure enough, it's the same thing.

I don't think I'd heard that sample before this year (that I can recall), and this year I hear it by 2 completely different artists in 2 completely different genres. That's so weird.

He said he found it in a sample pack and had never heard the Logistics song before and had no idea who Logistics even was.

I can and will always recommend Om Unit, his tunes are a little restrictive but they're usually very good. I tried listening to that Mefjus tune above but the video wouldn't work for me, all I got was a loud grating noise...

Meanwhile, it's almost December, which means it's nearly time for the yearly best ofs. I can barely remember what came out last week, let alone January, so it's always good to get a yearly retrospective. I'll start with this tune by Evol Intent:

https://soundcloud.com/evolintent/theladies

It's a 2014 remaster of a 2002 track, but I'm posting it because it was apparently never released until earlier this year, plus it's a free download that's still active. There's a few more on their Soundcloud too.

Don't feel too bad, I saw him in Boston a couple of years ago and it wasn't worth it at all. Instead of getting the nice long netsky set I expected, given the fact that he was the main attraction, he went on LONG after he was supposed to, played for like 45 minutes and that was that. Don't think he even stuck around to talk to his american fans.
