The first season wasn't very animated and new-DEEN is actually decent (they stole a bunch of animators from SHAFT). Satelight is busy with some other things too so their attention would have been split.

Oh Jesus Christ Studio DEEN? Everything I've ever seen by them has been middling at best to downright terrible. I'm not so worried about animation quality itself so much as direction and tone, DEEN stuff always has heavy handed melodrama and I just can't see their tone working well with the overall tone of LH. This just seems like the worst choice possible for a series like Log Horizon.

When talking about the quality of the writing and directing, it's a bad idea to base it off the studio itself (unless it's SHAFT since Shinbo basically directs everything they do).
