I wasn't Fade's biggest fan, but his final collection was my favorite, and I'm shocked it's a decoy collection. I thought he had Project Runway in the bag fo'reals.

That makes me think Sandya won the whole thing. I didn't like her final collection, but it was my second favorite next to Fade's just because hers was less lovely.

This is so dead on and I can't stop laughing at your post because it's true. I think she's one of those designers who has a vision and sometimes has a hard time translating that into real design. I think she's been lucky in previous challenges with her gimmicks but now that we're getting closer to the end I don't think she'll be around much longer.

My feelings exactly. I just have no idea what it was that made Tim so emotional about Char, I mean she was ok but nothing they've shown so far has given my any idea what made the decision to send her home something that would've kept him up at night.

Why would Tim use his save on Fade?

I enjoyed the heck out of Fade's designs and thought the judges ignored his talent several times over, but he seemed out of gas and exhausted last week. I don't really think a "you get to stay for another day!" Tim Gunn Save would've given him the pep talk needed to keep going.

But I do agree that Tim wasting his save on Char is a clear indicator of the season. Tim after the comp: "I'm sorry Char, go to your workroom." Tim two hours later: "Well gently caress, there's no one I give a toss about."

I guess I'm a little indifferent about the 'Tim Gunn Save'. It seems like every long-running competition reality show has started throwing in a similar gimmick to slightly twist the rules to keep it interesting, but at least I trust Tim Gunn enough to use it thoughtfully (much like the Fill-in-the-blank-sponsor Accessory Wall).

The save is really a double-edge sword for Tim though. Yes, it's nice to be used when the judges have gone off the rails (which has happened before), but there's always that slightly awkward moment after the elimination where the designer hopes Tim will say 'you're saved' and he tells them to clean up their space instead. I get the feeling Tim hates walking in to say goodbye to who was kicked off while the save is still in play.

And it's got to be a bit tricky because if he waits until later in the season to use it (when there are only the better designers, thus more deserving) it seems more unfair to give someone a second chance. He's got to navigate the judges (who he is DISAGREEING with) as well as the other designers who might be pissed if he chose to save someone everyone is glad to see gone.

I think Tim's gut reation to Char was that she wasn't quite up to snuff, but saw an opportunity to use his save on someone everyone kinda liked and wouldn't be pissed about coming back. And it was still early enough in the competition not to seriously affect the outcome.

I would have been happy to go the entire season without him using it at all, but since they mentioned it every episode that wasn't likely to happen. It would have been hilarious if he had used it if Amanda was getting eliminated (thus giving her a 3rd chance to come back) or if he saved it until the end and he got to declare the winner himself, judges be damned!

Man you know what would be fun? Smaller all-star cast (I always want this, for every season) and then let each contestant suggest one challenge. Like, Chris March might pick a drag challenge (he was the drag guy, right?), Patricia Michaels might do a schizophrenia theme, etc. Tweak the format a bit so the featured designer gives all the other ones a lesson in their area of expertise at the top of the show. You'd get a fun first half with the designer crowing about how they're sure to win, and then they'd fail and the season's pet would win and the gnashing of teeth would be reality show gold.

I would whole-heartedly support a season of just Chris March, where he made 12 outfits the first episode, 11 the second, and so on. They could pick their favorite and burn their least favorite. All ladies should be dressed like drag queens. I want to go to Kroger and have the cashier be an 8-foot tall Gloria Estefan. Is that too much to ask?

Did you see his Target Halloween stuff? Because it was amazing and way more subversive than I'd ever expect a big-box store product line to be. Not that it was risque or anything, but, toy drag wigs! For kids!

Also there's going to be a new teen designer Project Runway, kind of like MasterChef Juniors:

As for this current season, eh. I guess I want Kini to win? I dunno, I just don't have any huge favorites this time around. I was kinda hoping Fäde would be our dark horse, but... welp.

I just don't want Alexander to win. Dude makes the most boring, low-effort clothes and he just skates through the middle every week. I was shocked when they didn't call him out for just gluing purple petals to a clear rain poncho and tossing it over a black bodysuit last week.

Maybe the judges just find him so boring that they can't even remember him enough to put him in the bottom. Lord knows that I only finally started remembering his name this week.
