10:30 PM on Thursday is the magical hour in which I scream "BULLSHIT" at the TV. I wasn't Fade's biggest fan, but his final collection was my favorite, and I'm shocked it's a decoy collection. I thought he had Project Runway in the bag fo'reals. That makes me think Sandya won the whole thing. I didn't like her final collection, but it was my second favorite next to Fade's just because hers was less lovely.

Avant Guard challenge sponsored by a TV! That totally makes sense right? Why not do a runway with water everywhere? Brilliant! What does this have to do with…. Who cares, it's crazy! It's like a producer watched America's Next Top Model and thought that this bullshit is what's going on in high fashion. Top Winner Kini It's a very well done McQueen. At least we know he is talented. Sean It was a great gimmick, and it worked beautifully. Sandhya The gently caress. Tim Gunn tells you it looks childish and you say the coat will bring it the sophistication it needs… That coat is covered in pinwheels. They are just daring us to stop watching right? The Middle Alexandeer It's a cute raincoat. But that's all it really is. Amanda Whatever Char She is way in over her head. This is what someone who has never studied fashion thinks avant guard is. It's got a bunch of stuff that's asymmetrical... that's it right? Bottom Korina Oh this turned into a badly made alien costume. Emily ooof. Out Fade It is too simple, There was no connection to the challenge outside of a "play" button… too bad TVs don't have a play button.

I might just be nitpicky, but Heidi says something like "of course, when you think of rain, the first thing you think of is an umbrella, that shows he's creative". Doesn't that make you uncreative? It's like when Clarissa Explains it All's dad would always design a business building to look exactly like a giant version of what that business sold. Still loved the end result, though.

Why would Tim use his save on Fade? I enjoyed the heck out of Fade's designs and thought the judges ignored his talent several times over, but he seemed out of gas and exhausted last week. I don't really think a "you get to stay for another day!" Tim Gunn Save would've given him the pep talk needed to keep going. But I do agree that Tim wasting his save on Char is a clear indicator of the season. Tim after the comp: "I'm sorry Char, go to your workroom." Tim two hours later: "Well gently caress, there's no one I give a toss about."

I guess I'm a little indifferent about the 'Tim Gunn Save'. It seems like every long-running competition reality show has started throwing in a similar gimmick to slightly twist the rules to keep it interesting, but at least I trust Tim Gunn enough to use it thoughtfully (much like the Fill-in-the-blank-sponsor Accessory Wall). The save is really a double-edge sword for Tim though. Yes, it's nice to be used when the judges have gone off the rails (which has happened before), but there's always that slightly awkward moment after the elimination where the designer hopes Tim will say 'you're saved' and he tells them to clean up their space instead. I get the feeling Tim hates walking in to say goodbye to who was kicked off while the save is still in play. And it's got to be a bit tricky because if he waits until later in the season to use it (when there are only the better designers, thus more deserving) it seems more unfair to give someone a second chance. He's got to navigate the judges (who he is DISAGREEING with) as well as the other designers who might be pissed if he chose to save someone everyone is glad to see gone. I think Tim's gut reation to Char was that she wasn't quite up to snuff, but saw an opportunity to use his save on someone everyone kinda liked and wouldn't be pissed about coming back. And it was still early enough in the competition not to seriously affect the outcome. I would have been happy to go the entire season without him using it at all, but since they mentioned it every episode that wasn't likely to happen. It would have been hilarious if he had used it if Amanda was getting eliminated (thus giving her a 3rd chance to come back) or if he saved it until the end and he got to declare the winner himself, judges be damned!

Man you know what would be fun? Smaller all-star cast (I always want this, for every season) and then let each contestant suggest one challenge. Like, Chris March might pick a drag challenge (he was the drag guy, right?), Patricia Michaels might do a schizophrenia theme, etc. Tweak the format a bit so the featured designer gives all the other ones a lesson in their area of expertise at the top of the show. You'd get a fun first half with the designer crowing about how they're sure to win, and then they'd fail and the season's pet would win and the gnashing of teeth would be reality show gold.

I hated Kate both times. I hope Helen has learned to make another dress besides the layered ripped effect in a mermaid silhouette. I want Michelle, Chris March, Dmitry, and Alexandria to make a super group of not giving a gently caress about other designers' drama. It would be glorious.

I suppose it speaks for the show, but I remember only a small handful of those designers, and I've seen every season. I would whole-heartedly support a season of just Chris March, where he made 12 outfits the first episode, 11 the second, and so on. They could pick their favorite and burn their least favorite. All ladies should be dressed like drag queens. I want to go to Kroger and have the cashier be an 8-foot tall Gloria Estefan. Is that too much to ask? Chris March.

As for this current season, eh. I guess I want Kini to win? I dunno, I just don't have any huge favorites this time around. I was kinda hoping Fäde would be our dark horse, but... welp. I just don't want Alexander to win. Dude makes the most boring, low-effort clothes and he just skates through the middle every week. I was shocked when they didn't call him out for just gluing purple petals to a clear rain poncho and tossing it over a black bodysuit last week. Maybe the judges just find him so boring that they can't even remember him enough to put him in the bottom. Lord knows that I only finally started remembering his name this week.

Child models creep me out… they are like pagent girls with more money. Sandhya is such a whiner. I'm being picked on, none of the designers like my stuff, I need compassion, wha wha wha. No one has been mean to her as far as any of the editing shows. She kept getting on top and she ignores everything everyone says to her in the workroom. Nobody is sad to see her go, just confused on why she was ever on top. Top Winner Kini It's very sellable, nothing groundbreaking. The print is really doing all the work. The heaviness of the fabric is covering any details. Korina Amazingly fun skirt Char Cute cute cute. The fringe is fun and will sell, not as much as the dress, but still great The Middle Amanda These patterns don't go together. It's good otherwise. Alexander Great patterns. The pants are badly shaped - especially on top. The shirt is too short for the look. Bottom Emily If this is what she sends he kid to school in, then her kid is either considered the poor kid or the kid with a schizophrenic mom. Sean poor kid. Awful jumpsuit, legs are too short, its giving the girl a wedgie, there's no waist. The back… it's like a subpar chinese sweatshop made a peace sign.. no one really knows how to do it and it became a "please sign" Out Sandhya hahahahahahahahahaha jumpsuit, spaghetti straps, peplum, shrug, puffy sleeves. What the hell does any of this have to do with anything? Elastic and snaps on the back down to the butt. You can tell she does not understand that 9 year olds put on their own clothes.
