Virgin America has top 80 (in priority) flight attendants that are around 30 years old. I cant see that being anywhere close to being true on a legacy carrier.

Well, they did have that "reality" TV show a few years back about some of their flight attendants. I saw one of them as part of the disembarking crew of a plane I was working on. So I guess that's kind of like being a model. I had to sit through some of that show more times than I'd ever wish upon an enemy with the nightly IFE checks I had to do...

Singapore Airlines and Emirates out of Melbourne must be lucky. More often than not, Cathay Pacific also has decent looking staff. I'd say Malaysia wasn't too bad, but no one is flying on them to look and find out - so I don't know. Virgin Australia used to have a policy of having ridiculously hot women running their flights, a court case a few years back stopped that.

I think if you did a detailed study of flight times, you'd find very little change. In the olden days of cheap fuel, you had aircraft flying at higher speeds, but they were also more limited, navigationally, both due to navigational technology, and limitations of the air traffic system. Now, air carriers get more direct routing, and much better weather avoidance, flow control, etc, but they also cruise slower, to save fuel. Internationally, it might be different, since long haul aircraft tend to cruise at a higher Mach, but then again, most oceanic airspace and navigation hasn't changed much since the sixties, and there are many more narrow body jets on thin long-haul routes than there used to be, due to ETOPS. Ireland has the same sort of agreement that Canada does, where you can clear US customs prior to departure, so when you land you just get of the plane (at a normal domestic gate) and leave the airport, no hassles. The UK doesn't have that sort of agreement.

The worst FA was the one I had on a SouthWest/ATA flight recently, who as we were boarding, was making loud jokes about how bad the pilot was, then preceded to tell an elderly woman who appeared to be suffering from dementia/Alzheimers and was terrified of flying that we were going to Sacramento (we were not going to Sacramento). Oh and I almost forgot, announced over the PA that everyone needed to hurry up and sit down because they were finishing a rotation or something and she hadn't seen her family in 4 days and wanted to get back as quickly as possible, so quit dawdling and sit down. It was hilariously bad. The whole flight (737-800) she was shouting down the aisles at people, interjecting herself into their conversations at screaming-level volume. vvv - It's objectively bad.
