Probably because the S14 is $retarded to buy/maintain and the F20C is about as good as it gets without going to a K swap which is also $money 4cyl wise. I've never been a purist and find enjoyment in ruffling their feathers.

He should have clarified in a normal car, not absurdly expensive, and not a bunch of work electronics wise to swap... also worded as worth a drat. An S14 will cost you more than a full F20 pull (engine, trans, ecu, harness), the M42 will cost you ~10k to make 200whp NA, etc.

ok this is pretty much what I thought and I don't really care about purity either, it just never occurred to me to swap a F20c into an E30, generally everything you see is at least 6 cylinders if it comes from another brand. Obviously with the E30's huge engine bay in comparison to the S2000 you get a lot more room for FI stuff if you want to

Rebello Racing built a 260hp (crank) M42 for a local racer. Not sure what it cost, but it's in a 2200lb e30 and that thing loving FLIES.

MM is one of the more well known M42 companies... 260hp is your magical 205-210whp mark which is what a stock F series makes. :)

Crossposting from RX8 chat in the terrible car stuff thread.

There are dozens of RX-8s for under £1000 in the UK. They tend to mention "start issues". Something like this is pretty loving tempting though.

I've noticed this too, I've always assumed their ridiculously low resale value in the UK is due to their lovely gas mileage.

Surely you could flip that for parts and make a decent profit, right? That seems insanely low.

If people can't afford gas for them and they're unreliable pieces of crap, then the market for parts is probably pretty low.

Honestly, with how S2000 prices are lately, and how much a viper v10 + trans costs, that seems like it would a pretty decent deal for a tire smoking death machine.
