I was listening to NPR a few years ago and, if I recall correctly, a child psychologist mentioned using physical discipline (spanking not beating) only in cases where a child does something truly life threatening like try to grab the stove or run into the street. If she's closer to 24 months than 12 you might be able to make a case for a light spanking for something along those lines, but I doubt that is what Bush is talking about.

I think he is 50/50. He had some amazing throws dropped, two of which were touchdowns (backup tight end drop, Wallace drop) and he's had some big 3rd downs dropped (clay, Landry)

That's fine. He's also overthrown a wise open miller. He's missed a crossing Gibson. He throws behind more than you'd like.

I dunno, I'm conflicted, a young kid who can't yet logic things out I'm fine with using super light physical discipline to keep them from repeating a bad action.

As soon as they get old enough to logic things out themselves, it's dumb to use physical force to enforce your rules, as in order to affect them as they grow up you have to escalate, and the second they get old/strong enough to defy you, your ability to enforce be a parent is over, as they never really respected so much as feared you.

I mean being high on blow doesn't give someone the right to beat the hell out of you (unless it's two guy friends and Jesus dude it was either I did it or those five guys) but Nicole holder barely has any credibility compared to rice and Peterson.

Bro how come half this forum has trouble reading posts clearly? I said the cornerbacks are close to a top 10 squad in the league, not the entire Packers defense. And posting a couple tweets and griping about Dom Capers is hardly a "smoking gun". I'm calling you subliterate, just so we can spell it out clearly for your benefit.

Also for some reason Luck was against throwing.

I always felt like team DVOA was hard to take seriously until about week 4-5 because by then teams have showed their true colors, after week 2 we might still be in unknown fluke territory.

They basically tell you to not even pay attention to DVOA until at least week 4.

FO posted:

We do not include opponent adjustments in our numbers until Week 4 because this early in the season, it is hard to tell which results are "real" and which results are "fluky." Our research has suggested that we have enough data to start doing opponent adjustments after four games. After Week 4, we do the opponent adjustments at 40 percent their usual strength, and then that goes up by 10 percent each week until we reach full strength after Week 10.

Yeah, just tiny sample sizes. Aside from the Jaguars, the Patriots committed unholy acts against a Matt Cassel led attack that lost their best player the day before the game.

Somehow I doubt Seattle will be the 21st ranked defense once they're not playing Rodgers and Rivers. It'll be lower, because here comes a throbbing Peyton

Then again, a man who is talking about not leaving bruises on a one year old probably doesn't have a ton of self awareness.

According to Uniwatch, the NFL is going to downplay pink October this year and trump up camo and support for veterans. Apparently this isn't related to anything specific but planned for a while.

quote:

Yesterday afternoon I took part in a panel discussion as part of an NYU sports business class. One of the other panelists was the buyer for a well-known chain of sporting goods stores — let’s call him Mr. Buyer — and he had some very interesting things to say, chief among them the news that the NFL will be dialing back the throttle a bit this year on Pinktober. This has nothing to do with the recent domestic violence issues that have been in the news — Mr. Buyer said the league had already planned to soft-pedal the pink months ago. There’ll still be some pink, but not as much. It won’t be used for any nationally televised games, for example.

On the other hand, Mr. Buyer said the NFL plans a bigger push this year for G.I. Joevember. He didn’t specify what the bigger push would involve, but it can’t be good.

It's really interesting how the Panthers are a 67% chance to win the division, yet are +150 at most sportsbooks for winning the division. For comparison, these Elo rating have the Broncos at only a 62% chance to win their division (5% less than the Panthers) but are freakin -700 to win the AFC West. I guess Vegas has more faith in the Saints/Falcons than they do the Chargers, but I figure Elo's forecasts would also have taken that into account.

Time to place a bet on the Panthers to win their division
