Granted, a lot of them are pretty compatible with right-wing conspiracies, but there are tons of USA-centric left-wing conspiracy theorists, especially outside the USA. (Although there's the problem that conspiracy theories regarding US foreign policy occasionally turn out to be true.)

The Toyota Hilux is the most popular platform for technicals everywhere, so there are consequently a lot of people who know how to modify, maintain, and repair them, plus easy access to spare parts etc. It makes sense in the same way that multinational forces using ammunition in a few standardized calibers does.

Eventually they gave up and decided to put it on a plinth in the back of their studio where it remains to this day. By the end the entire chassis was cracked through and the only thing connecting the front to back was the drive train, but the thing still ran with no spare parts.
