Both FC 2 and FC3 have awful gun handling, very weightless and unsatisfying. I hope FC4 improves on that front (fat chance).

The only Far Cry with a good story is Blood Dragon's because it doesn't take itself seriously at all.

Where's my Blood Dragon 2 that's one big parody of Escape From New York, Ubi?

I'm also enjoying finding combination codes on items I pick up and spin around in 3D. All games should have 3d object examination.

Also the home base is cool since you essentially have a inventory system that's your house and you live there. And you just warp back and forth.

I'm not crazy about being able to carry only one item, but since I'm a typical RPG packrat maybe it's good to challenge my instinctive habit to carry every item I can pick up. There doesn't seem to be any good reason for it, though, which kind of makes it worse.

I liked how Far Cry 2's story made you feel like a terrible person. It didn't judge or preach (like Spec Ops: The Line), it just gave you mission objectives to complete, and the missions were pretty evil stuff. Your stated main goal for the whole thing is to stop the arms dealer supplying the weapons. By the end, I really did feel like a terrible person myself - the things I'd done no longer justified the goal. I felt the ending fit the game perfectly.

This sounds like most Horror/gore-porn movies. Some people just want to see a dude fisted with a car battery by the spirit of their dead girlfriend's stepfather, or a possessed chick lick a razorblade. And some people like those anime things. It's no big deal.

Quit gettin' mad 'bout things that don't matter. Water under a bridge, man. Neither group's smashing your face in with a sock full of combo-locks or Sakura bodypillow. Let it go.

There actually is kind of a reason, you get an item later on that you'll need a free hand for. So basically you have only one free hand to hold items. Doesn't explain why you don't have pockets, of course. But honestly, hitting Back and throwing an item on one of the shelves takes 2 seconds. I'm becoming quite a hoarder. Better than realizing you need an item and having to trek all the way back to where you didn't pick it up.

Ahaha, this actually happened to me. I put down some electrical wires somewhere and then when I got to the Blacksmith's I realized that I needed them to finish the puzzle. So I had to search the whole town to figure out where I dropped them.

To clarify, the original versions of Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light were pulled because there's now the "redux" versions. Though this does mean the more expensive version of 2033 is the only one you can buy now.

Wonder why Ride to Hell was pulled. Yeah, its pretty much poo poo in every respect and it leaving the store is a good thing, but it's not like it was functionally broken or anything. It worked and anybody buying it at this point without knowing what it is deserved it.

The bad ending is probably the most hilariously stupid thing ever. Yeah silt everyone's throats and get a POV of loving that tribe girl and then you get stabbed because the writer wants you to feel bad!

I am still looking forward to Far Cry 4 because who didn't enjoy going to the enemies bases and wrecking poo poo. If I saw a tiger in a cage, most of the time I am gonna unlock that cage and let carnage take care of itself.

Other than the mild bullet-sponginess of the enemies, Far cry 2 was the first game I really fell in love with in terms of the gunplay. The minor desperation of hoping the next clip didn't neutralize your own gun--and also the feeling of picking up a fresh one at an armory, was thrilling on different levels but both enjoyable.

Plus, nothing pleased me more than finally picking up the thumper, hearing the familiar revving of an enemy jeep, only to one-shot destroy it into a building-high pillar of smoke.

Far Cry 3's guns were great, the entire game's gameplay felt like a first-person cinematic. Killing enemies, in the meanwhile, was a bit less satisfying, save for when I pulled off some fun stealth moments. Still, taking over the map is stupid.

Either way, both games were great and I didn't regret pumping so many hours into either. :shobon:

Does anyone know why they pulled Commander: The Great War from Steam? Unlike the Metro games, there are no improved versions of the same game available, and unlike Ride to Hell, it's certainly not lovely! In fact, it's probably the most easy-to-get-into World War 1 strategy game that I've ever seen. Would be a shame if its removal from Steam turned out to be because of something serious and non-negotiable.

No word from Slithereen on the matter yet. Hopefully this doesn't gently caress up the trend they were starting of pricing their games reasonably and putting them on Steam.

I didn't necessarily mean more traditional RPGs when I said that, quite a few of them have just fine stories. The issue is that the weird overlap between "sandbox with stuff to do, and a story if you want it" and more traditional WRPGs basically ends with Ubisoft games. You could call Batman that, but the stories are some of the best parts of the Batman games. Shadow of Mordor has a story but I don't expect to be as engrossed with it as I am with Orc Chess. Basically it was a dumb statement on my part.

I agree with you, though. I tend to get bored with sandbox games because lack of an overarching and interesting narrative makes me just not care.

The obvious true answer is sleepy dawgs, though. Great story; great sandbox fun.
