Job Seeker

Location: Philly burbs (can commute to NJ/NYC if necessary, would gladly consider relocating for the right position)

Education: MA in Writing from University of Chicago, BA in English (minors in History & Creative Writing)

Experience: I worked for several years as a college-level writing fellow and tutor, and for the past five+ as an editor/proofreader, research assistant, and writer on a diverse array of projects for individual and corporate clients all over the world, so I have quite a bit of experience and insight when it comes to mediating ideas between writers and their audiences and the various complexities of the writing process in general. It's not uncommon for my clients to run the gamut from working moms to novelists to ESL grad exchange students to Fortune 500 execs to linguistics professors to particle physicists from one assignment to the next, so I also tend to be extremely adaptable in where I can be useful and am comfortable wearing lots of different specialized hats as needed!

I'm an avid photographer, own/manage a small photography business on the side, and am fairly adept at photo/nonlinear video editing and some webdesign as well.

Looking for: Any entry- to mid-level positions that can make use of my boundless mythical editing prowess, research proficiency, and/or extensive writing chops, (especially those involving juggling various types of multimedia).

Mostly been doing the independent contractor thing these past couple years while managing my photography business, but even though the hours are really flexible and it lets me work with an interesting range of people from all over, I'm hoping to find something a bit more focused and structured/consistent at this point.

Requirements: Part- or full-time

"Are you forgetting that just this afternoon I was punched in the face by a turtle now dead?
Job Seeker: Available 10/24 (pending layoff)

Location: Seattle, WA; willing to commute to South, South East, and East locations in the Seattle Metro Area.

Education: B.A. in Journalism from Seattle University

Experience: I haven't spent a lot of time using my degree in a professional sense (beyond being able to write a coherent email or report).

I've done technical helpdesk support, retail PC sales, blackbox software testing, managed a 24x7 NOC for a few years, and for the last three years I've worked at an aerospace company conducting FAA certification tests for a new airplane model that was recently certified to fly.

Obviously the lack of a technical degree is holding me back from moving to more concrete technical roles but I get by; I knew absolutely nothing about airplanes when I started my current role and now I'm one of the best people they have.

Looking For: I'm looking for jobs in QA, Lab Test, Project Management, and similar roles. Anything where I'm working on a team of people and am able to utilize my communication and organization skills is a major plus. I need to work with people or I'll go insane since I don't do well on my own.

Location: DFW, willing to relocate. Highest preference to Portland, OR. Remote is ok.

Education: BS in Finance

Experience: Roughly 2.5 years in IT. Experience is in technical support/helpdesk, some database work. Currently working as a consultant who goes out to client sites and performs SaaS implementations and help the client configure/tailor the software for their business needs. Prior to that, was in a government training program for bank examination, did a lot of financial analysis and heavy Excel work.

Looking for: Similar role to what I'm doing now, basically something in a professional services or a post-sales engineer type role. Business analyst positions would be ok too (some sort of tech/business blend is great). Open to a position where travel is involved and frequent is no problem.

The place I am working at is hiring!

Position: Various programming, inventory and fulfillment positions, see below

Location: Troy, MI
Status: Full time, salary (as far as I know)

I'm not gonna go into great detail here because I don't know a lot about the jobs specifically (I'm in support) but check these pdfs I threw on my dropbox:

Inventory Purchasing Manager
Logistics Specialist
Release Engineer
Senior Engineer
Software Development Lead
Technical Project Specialist

I will say that I like working at this place a lot, I am pretty well paid and we're growing and profitable. If you're interested in anything shoot me a PM so I can pass your info along.

Coincidentally I'm also maybe looking for a roommate so I can move closer to Troy, if anyone is interested.

Job Seeker

Location: Lehigh Valley area, PA (Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton). Will be relocating from Baltimore, MD upon receiving a firm job offer (fiance wants me to have a job before I move in with him).

Education: HS Diploma, no college. Self taught user (intermediate/advanced level) in MS Word and Excel, can also do minor troubleshooting on PC's before going to IT calls. Willing to learn new computer programs if needed for position.

Experience: Roughly 7 years of clerical work, 4.5 years of timekeeping entry work during that span. 6 years of corporate purchasing card usage for a branch of the State of Maryland's Department of Transportation, both as primary job responsibility (stockroom) and secondary responsibility during said span. 2 years in charge of stockroom with inventory valued at over $800,000 with a 0.42% variance at physical inventory. Recorded typing speed of 53 wpm, normal everyday typing speed hovers around 42 wpm.

Looking for: Either a clerical or purchasing/stockroom role, preferably in a smaller company within 35 miles of Allentown. My transcription skills are weak at best (due to lack of chances in learning them), so any position where that is a must would be tricky at best until those skills have developed.

Availability: Negotiable, would like a two to three week window to coordinate my relocation and resignation from State service. For in person interviews, I would appreciate a week's notice to factor the trip into my fuel budget and to request leave from my present employer. I prefer FT work but will take PT if I must.

Contact: Either PM, or my SA name (at) gmail. Can send resume and references via email if requested.

Job Seeker

Location: Buckeye, AZ. Anything in the Phoenix Metro, or I am 100% willing to relocate.

Education: Some college: ITT Tech 2002 - CS-Networking, Estrella Mountain Community College 2014 (current student)- AS-Physics, 61/64 credits.

Experience: 10 years of IT support/maintenance in the banking and retail industry. 5 years with NCR Corporation, 5 years with Wincor-Nixdorf USA.

  • Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical, Software support. Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair ATM equipment for every national bank.
  • NCR, Wincor-Nixdorf, Triton, Tidel, and Diebold ATM equipment. NCR self-checkout/POS system support.
  • Walmart/Sam's backroom (Genicom printers, Blade servers, CC/DD controllers).
  • NCR ITRAN/7780 check sorting equipment.
  • Familiarity with all Windows platforms, certain proprietary builds of Linux.
  • Limited experience with C++ and CISCO.
  • High familiarity with cash handling/security procedures and protocols.
  • Extreme amounts of driving (2000+ mi/weekly) and self-sufficience due to the nature of this business.

Looking for: I want to leave Phoenix (though I am perfectly fine moving to a different company in the Phoenix Metro area). I am looking for a company anywhere (international would be great, also) that would hire and relocate an employee in any industry pertaining to my listed skills. Caveat: I am working toward my BS in Physics, so it would need to be in a location near an accredited univeristy. I have a wealth of knowledge, and think that I would be an asset for any company to pick up. My current employer has very little use for someone with a degree in Physics (their words), so I am looking for somewhere with a future.

Availability: 2 weeks to 1 month. Relocation would be at your leisure. If you are local to Phoenix, 2 weeks from hire date would be sufficient.

Job Seeker

Location: Seattle

Education: BA in English from University of Wisconsin, Technical Writing Certificate from University of Washington

Experience: I have been writing and editing stuff for various companies or colleges since 2007. I've been writing and editing proposals for an insurance brokerage since August, but this limited gig is up in November. Worked as a content editor at Google for almost three years and wrote internal instruction manuals there. Worked on medical contracts, instructional Powerpoint presentations for law enforcement, and website copy before that. Worked at the writing center of three different colleges.

Looking For: I'm pretty much a technical writer in all but official job title at this point, and ideally that's what I'm looking for--but I'm not picky. Anything that involves writing is fine--doesn't much matter how dull you think it is, I'll get into it--but I'm not interested in writing mill scenarios. Contract/temp is fine if that's all there is.

I just wanted to share that there are still open positions available for this role and others.

We have openings across the country (but mostly at our centers in Orlando, Phoenix, Denver, Austin, and Indianapolis). Most positions are in customer service or financial advising but we also have openings in IT, HR, accounting and other corporate functions.

I don't want to post our jobs website here but if you PM me I can send you details. I have been told that all qualified candidates who are referred through a current employee will be given an interview.

Do you forsee the hiring to continue? I'm looking to move to a part of the country with a lower cost of living (I'm in Boston now) but I want to have a job lined up, of course.
I think I'm qualified enough. BS in Accounting, Econ minor, in an MBA program currently. Plenty of customer service and office experience. Think they would consider someone who would have to relocate? (no relocation assistance needed)

Education: B.S. in Information Technology from Florida State University

Experience: I've been working as a web developer since 2008. PHP is my core backend language and I do front end dev work as well (Javascript, jQuery, etc.).

Just some Civil Engineering temp contract work - not ideal, but it works for now.

I'm not sure what urban planning entails? Is it a subset of Civil Engineering? There are so many specialties within Civil that I can't keep up.

Anyhow, if you're a Civil looking at a structural specialty (and pursuing/have an SE) with awesome AutoCAD drafting skills in the LA area (Pasadena), my old employer would be interested, PM me.
