thanks for the reviews; i have now ordered a magic trackpad, which my brain refuses to stop calling "tragic macpad" -- i saw it referred to that way somewhere, and it's stuck

i don't know, i gave it to my younger brother to play warcrack on when I got my thinkpad it shows the folder question mark so it can't find the startup disk at least, hoping it's just a quick reinstall that's needed and not a new drive b/c i have no loving idea how to open that bastard up

how much computing power do i need to virtualize a hadoop cluster? i don't care about tflops or anything, i just want to do it as a learning experience because i am sick of not having hadoop on my resume my school spoiled me with a matlab instance with 128gb of ram so i never had to deal with cluster computing but as it turns out industry people care deeply about the 'doop edit: the context for this is i am thinking about building a new PC and this might be a target if it is reasonably attainable

my years-old thinkpad w510 has decided that colorful static is what it wants to display. i can still rdp into it so the display seems to be the only thing broken. is this likely to just be a loose connector that i can fix myself or what edit: lcd connector was totally covered in dust. apparently i should have opened my laptop up yesterday when i blew the heatsink dust out instead of relying on the vents. woops, i'm dumb.
