They can just make a scale version of this then:

SymfonyMan posted:Oh cool, I didn't know they got Dennis Quaid to star as Han Solo in the new Star Wars films. Someone on Facebook commented there is a bit of Tom Cruise in there. I sorta see it - it's not a perfect likeness. I guess Harrison Ford didn't sign his likeness? It may keep the costs down I guess as the Nicholson Joker cost more due to getting his face on there. In other Hot Toys news, Robocop is coming out soon and it's been revealed that a very, VERY small proportion is die-cast. Like, less than 15%. On a $300 figure.... people over at the SideshowFreaks board are pretty pissed about getting swindled by Hot Toys. Many are keeping their orders as it's a fantastic figure (including me, no way could I pass this - even without the Peter Weller head) but this should have cost $50-75 less. Maybe around the price of an Iron Man figure. The purple highlights which parts are die cast. Seems pointless to even include it - what does it even add? EDIT: View review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pUerDpFxvE Looks fantastic. Vintersorg fucked around with this message at 17:42 on Sep 24, 2014 |

They have Harrison's likeness or they would not have made the figure. He's a hard likeness to capture unfortunately. Go back to their Indy and see they couldn't do it there and it looks worse here.

Must have been the sculptor - the Han Solo is nowhere near as good as these.

That Arnold looks like Mad Max for some reason.

That Chewie is the most impressive Hot Toys figure I've ever seen. If I liked the character more, I'd buy that.

If we want to talk about Hot Toys misses, look no further: Well I guess that's not fair, it was before they were known for the realistic portraits. Ok. The Rock says I look nothing like the Rock.

And also, they didn't have the likeness rights to Weaver. They literally did the best they could.

And the final price is.....$497 for the pair. $229 for Han. $254 for Chewie.

RevKrule posted:And the final price is.....$497 for the pair. $229 for Han. $254 for Chewie. Yeah, I just spent $320 CDN on Robocop but wow, that's a bit much for a basic guy with some clothing. Chewie I sorta understand - it's all fur but even that should only be $229. Han should be more than $180.

Guys, my girlfriend figured it out. It's not Dennis Quaid or Tom Cruise...it's John Stamos. That's also clearly Dave Coulier wearing a Chewie costume. The Olsen Twins are gonna be ewoks. etc.

Poster over at SideshowFreaks did up these custom turtles based off the new movie. It makes me sad/angry that we'll never get anything this good on a large scale from the big guys like Hot Toys/Sideshow/EnterBay. Another guy did a custom Casey Jones and said he'd be up for a commission job - just waiting to see how much he'd charge.

$229 is a great price for that. Tons of poo poo comes with it - love the speech bubbles that fit the character. I hope they have some classics in there as well, mainly a brown suit Wolverine.

Hot Toys needs to get an eye expert or something in to school their sculptors. They keep on getting dead on for likenesses except for that one part. Or as a stop-gap, just start including sunglasses with every release.

Wait, what's wrong with their eyes? If anything they're always the most strikingly accurate part of their dolls, especially since you're able to move them where you want.
