Only 9 days left I can't imagine a leak will take long. I have the album preordered anyway and can't wait for the double vinyl and the poo poo TON of useless loving extras that came along with it but them's the breaks I guess. Thanks Rise Records.

There should be a gym-bro drill-sargeant lifting metal/core/breakdowns thread. Then this thread can be entirely dedicated to talking about The Acacia Strain's The Dead VValk: The Dead Walk II, in which Vincent continues his quest to be the find the spiritual anti-zen of Dwid Hellion. Today I heard some interesting dark/thrashy hardcore that sounds pretty good for being a second-rate Pulling Teeth. http://soulsforsale.bandcamp.com/

Just a PSA that the new Acacia Strain is floating around out there right now. E: on first listen, album kinda sounds like a mix of dead walk and wormwood. I think this will be another grower like DITOM was, tbh. Also, Observer is totally another Tactical Nuke, just with some soft parts thrown in to break up the drone. Sorry guys! chocolateTHUNDER fucked around with this message at 19:30 on Oct 9, 2014 |

The Observer is absolutely the furthest thing from another Tactical Nuke. It's a loving majestic, epic, powerhouse that is probably one of the most creative things TAS has ever put out. Sweet Christmas, Observer is a mammoth of a track. Whale Shark is also loving mad. God drat what a sick tape. Glad I pre order'd it and can't wait to jam it on my phone at the gym.

Production on Coma Witch is loads better than the muddy metallic buzz of DITOM. I liked a lot of DITOM songs a lot but this new joint has elements of all the older TAS I loved pulled into one package. The bouncy fun riffing and speed of Dead Walk and Continent, the crushing slow groove and heavy sound of Wormwood, and even some fun one-liner lyrics that break up Vincent's hateful rhyme monotony a bit. His vocals are on point, too, as always. Super into the record.

Holy Walls of the Vatican is no doubt the fastest thing they've ever put out and it's awesome to hear TAS like that. Speaking of bounce - Whale Shark has a ton of it. Honestly since yesterday the track I've listened to the most is The Observer. I'm happy everyone was dead wrong about what a cop out of a track it was going to be.

So many great tracks on it, and I agree about the production - DITOM sounded muddy, scratchy, and sloppy, this record "sounds" way better. God drat TAS, you did it again.

I remember thinking there was nothing wrong with DITOM when it came out and I was just stoked for another TAS record. I find that I go back and relisten to songs off of it the least out of all their albums hands down. Doomblade, Mouth of the River, and Dust in the Helix are bangers but the rest of the album is a bit weird. I really like Time and Death and God but it's such a long track that I'm rarely in the mood for. Most of the songs on DITOM are over 4 minutes while the tracks on Coma Witch are all just over 3 which means the songs get to the point and end way quicker. Nailgun is the only song over 4 and every time I hear it I feel like the last minute could have definitely been chopped off. Fun fact: Since Wormwood - every first track song is between 3 - 3:05 minus the slow intro. e: Thanks Bridgepainter for always making me think my Moto Razr is too close to my speakers while I'm receiving a call. DITOM has some riffs for sure. Doomblade, Mouth of the River, Dust and the Helix and House of Abandon own (shame on all you guys for not shouting out House of Abandon, that is the loving jam of jams). I really can't wait to put some serious listen time into Coma Witch. I think they've done something awesome again.

House of Abandon is a good jam for sure. It's funny because I was just listening to Coma Witch on my phone as I read your comment and switched to DITOM to listen to House of Abandon and the difference in sound quality is immediately apparent. Sounds like someone stuffed cotton in my ears. I don't foresee DL having a long career mixing and mastering music.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH I still like the sound on DITOM better. On the sick brother breakdowns on Coma Witch they get super low and wild but the main riffs, while extreme, seem to lack a bit of punch by comparison. But obviously that's just like my opinion man since it's a simple matter of preference. That tape though seriously has my favorite guitar sound of all time. Coma Witch is wild indeed. I know better by now than to judge an Acacia Strain tape by the first couple of listens and once I blasted it a few times, the true power of such sick and ignorant cuts as "Holy Walls of the Vatican" and "Bridgepainter" and "Whale Shark" and "Send Help" has been unlocked. "Human Disaster" is one of their strongest opening tracks, "Beast" of course being the best of that category. Rest in piss,,,,,,,

Furthermore, ya boy right here's vocals have been getting better with every release and this one is no exception. Okay I take that back somewhat, as he sounded a bit monotone on Continent, but still I'm surprised at how well his vocals can carry a song despite not, you know, singing. Another awesome thing I noticed was that Sven from Aborted has guest vocals on "Graveyard Shift" to repay Vincent's guest vocals on their song "Your Entitlement Means Nothing"!! check out that hot cut here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEYTngXPH6w krustster fucked around with this message at 01:43 on Oct 11, 2014 |

Those guest vox on VVorld Demise are loving perfect and it's amazing how many dickbutts on YouTube are complaining about "faggy high pitch vocals?!?!?!" like a bunch of stupid rear end holes. My prime cuts off Coma Witch so far are Human Disaster, VVorld Demise, Nailgun, Graveyard Shift, and Observer, but I think my most highly rated jam is Whale Shark, god drat it's groovy and fun and angry. There's not a bad song on the record. I think Cauterizer and Send Help are my least favorites but they're still cool.

The beginning of Send Help is dope. Very foreboding. Anyone recognize the guest vocalist? The breakdown at the end is pretty epic and I can see them starting to play it live as it has a catchy chant line. Brendan Incendiary's vocals are awesome, the dynamic between his and Vincent's vocal styles works really well. It's sick that TAS pay respect to hardcore as a genre with guest spots from Incendiary and Ringworm (on a previous record) and they usually shout out the local hardcore bands when touring (I watch a lot of live YouTube full sets and such) And as for lovely YouTube comments, install this Chrome extension, it's saved me a lot of grief - Herp Derp for YouTube

Code Orange played Brooklyn Friday night and they were so god drat good and heavy. I was seriously impressed that they shouted out Incendiary but also Indecision. It rules when bands recognize and give respect to the local bands that paved the way.
