My office is in the front room of a run-down 12 megapixel sensor but the rent suits me and the landlord doesn't ask many questions.

I see this page doesn't have a bunch of people shrieking about their reddit experiences or what the hell ever, so I'm going to assume you're all done and I don't have to go back to the last page and probate half a dozen people?

This photo is really effective when you don't view it all at once, but scroll down. It starts off looking nice and then you realize it's a restroom.

Just chiming in to say that this is a really good photo, and a great example of street photography. If the dude had legs, it would still be a powerful image.

I know, I'm not exactly sure what happened with the color. I didn't mess with it in post, either.

Edit: Went back and re-processed. Better now?

I posted these in the sports thread also, got mixed reception. Given that I shot sports subjects in a street/walkaround setting I was hoping to get feedback from you guys as well.

The first one is really good. It's nice and close to the action which you really don't see much of in sports photography. I remember reading about Winogrand ending up with a broken leg trying this at a football game with a 28mm.

I don't think there's much going for the second one.

I agree with the above, I wanted to add something. I'm not much for Dutch angles, I enjoy it in your first one. It give the action a direction to flow to. I have no better way to describe that. It's a nice shot!

Agreeing~

That first shot is framed in a way which highlights the energy of the pressing player. The perspective shift and framing of the player is pleasing because (I think) it allows the observer of the photograph to play out the next couple seconds of action in the mind's eye.

I pretty much agree with the above. I think the first shot would be stronger if it weren't tilted because then the guy on the left wouldn't have his head chopped off. Still a good shot, though.

I'm messing around more with adjusting colors and such in Lightroom. Saturation up for the runners, down for the guitarman. Am I overdoing it? I know Flickr desaturates photos a tad.

The colours are more or less fine, but can you talk a bit about what drew you to take these photos and compose them the way you did?

Geektox posted:

Sure.

guitarman: Taken at my local farmer's market, I wanted to focus on the space in front of the guitarist, specifically his lack of an audience despite the relatively busy location. I chose an angle perpendicular to where the man was facing to draw attention to that space immediately in front of him. The idea of a musician with no audience seems kind of sad to me, so I applied a global desaturation to the photo.

runners: this was more or less a spur of the moment shot from walking around campus. Camera was out and on, saw them coming from down the road, and snapped as they ran by. The shot is cropped to put the runners in the center of the frame, relatively along the thirds. They looked like they had some fun having their picture snapped, and I wanted to draw attention to their faces. Runners are common enough but seeing three running in sync on a relatively open street felt like a semi-rare opportunity.

Tried a few times to get a cyclists in focus at 1/60. I got the effect I wanted but kind of hoped for a more interesting background. Cropped a bit as well.

Love the color on that dress, had to take a snap. I messed with the saturation to try and make the dress pop more.

The desat just compounds the problem of the guitarist blending into the tree behind him, although there really isn't much to see of him even once you make him out.
You're posting a lot of pictures without any obvious lead to them, I think you should probably tighten your edit criteria and hold off on even processing photos that don't have compelling action in them.
