On the t3 cruiser discussion, don't PL or some other enemy of ours have a Legion doctrine? How do those stack up?

There's basically two ways to fit a DPS Legion at the moment for fleet-level work:

* Heavy beams
* HAMs and bonused medium neuts

The former isn't inherently bad; CFC uses heavy beam Legions in Baltec fleets for anti-tackle / anti-bomber work. However, when you're talking about using beam Legions as the primary ship of the line (as opposed to escort duties) then it doesn't really compete with rail Tengus. The Railgus can outmaneuver them, out-tank them, and out-damage them.

The latter is rarely used at fleet levels, but it's pretty sick for medium-sized gangs of 20-30. Legions can put out a jaw-dropping amount of neuting power, and will gently caress up your triage carriers in an instant if they're not webbed down and primaried. (A full six-neut Legion has half a Bhaalgorn's neuting power, IIRC, but is much harder to kill due to its higher mobility and smaller sig radius. Three of those, or nine "compromise" Legions that pack two neuts and a rack of HAMs each, will render a triage carrier or blap dread useless pretty much instantly.)

e: Just for the record, here's the all-neut fit.

code:
[Legion, Pure Neuts + Drones]
Damage Control II
Corpum C-Type Energized EM Membrane
Corpum C-Type Energized Thermic Membrane
Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I

Legion Engineering - Capacitor Regeneration Matrix
Legion Offensive - Drone Synthesis Projector
Legion Propulsion - Wake Limiter

Hammerhead II x5
Hornet EC-300 x5
Vespa EC-600 x5
Valkyrie II x5
Warrior II x5
It's cap-stable with the MWD off; all six neuts combined will drain 1620 cap every 12 seconds, or a mean of 135 cap/sec. For comparison, a seven-neut Bhaalgorn drains 7350 cap every 24 seconds, or a mean of 306 cap/sec; but, the Bhaal will instantly cap out without a cap transfer from two friendly Guardians or a friendly triage carrier, and it has a sig radius 3x bigger than the Legion. If you need more tank or versatility, you can replace two neuts with A-type medium noses, and replace the CCCs with T2 Trimarks, and then replace the mids with tackle/TDs/etc.

Eh, I don't agree. The stabber and vaga are both pretty great hulls for what they are, it's just their poor projection at 20-40 km that hurts them. Imagine a vaga with the ranged damage of a kovorix navy omen...

The sleipnir's also pretty solid for what it is.

I think it's Kadeshi or Darknesssss. They're okay. A Railgu will always be doing about 20% more damage with the exception of at ranges of over 90KM, where the Legion will do about 20% more damage (but has to eat the -75% tracking of Aurora). Railgus also have nearly 50K extra EHP on a comparably priced fit, although the Legion has a 50% lower sig radius (but is 10% slower). In a matchup, it'd come down to raw numbers - the Legions would have to target Scimitars, but those have high native resists. On the other side, the Tengus would also have to target logistics ships. Oneiroses have very high native resists, but the Guardians may not as much. I'd definitely pick Tengus in the fight, even if I prefer the way the Legions look.

Compared to tengu
Pros:
Better tracking than a tengu, including aurora vs spike
About 20 more DPS at all ranges
Costs less than a T2 rigged tengu
Smaller sig
Way better lock range than tanky tengus (142 with links & subs V vs 113 with links and subs V)

Cons:
Needs AWU V and a 2% PG implant
10k less EHP than a T1 rigged tengu, 50K EHP less than a t2 rigged tengu (both with boosts)
50m/s slower
Costs more than a t1 rigged tengu
Needs cap boosters

I dunno, looks like it would work fine

You want to have a travel fit with covert ops cloak and interdiction nullifier, and then a fit for whatever you need to do your sites, and a depot to swap them around.

Maybe I will come back before August, but being in AUTZ is pretty much the worst for almost anything when we aren't at war.

Maybe I will move my 2 Archons down to FD- before whatever the range nerf expansion drops, so they're safely tucked into Syndicate.

poo poo I can't do that, I guess I will have to buy 2 more Archons and park them in FD-, those Archons are parked in Deklein for home defense and capital swarm pings.

Here's a cheap fit that will solo any C3 combat site (I recommend T2ing 2 of the CCC rigs). It'll struggle on a few of the data/relic sites, those are very hard:

Bring a Mobile Depot with a probe launcher, probes, and a cloak. Maybe a covops cloak + the cloaky subsystem. You also want a MTU to make looting not a pain.
