It's been a while since I read the VN, and I don't remember a detail I'm curious about. Spoilers, obviously. Is Archer lying when he says he doesn't remember who he is, or does he actually not remember until later? (I know who Archer is, I just don't remember this detail.)

Shirou speculates in Hollow Ataraxia that Heroic Spirits are incapable of outright lying, but there's probably a counterexample in Extra or whatever to prove that they can lie just fine. Edit: I just remembered that Servants lie outright in Apocrypha a couple times. Obviously Nasu didn't have that in mind when writing Archer's dialogue in Stay Night, but it still seems relevant.

Welp, I bought Hulu Plus just to see this, and I'm not disappointed so far. Too bad I have to head back to the NYCC trenches before the episode come out, my shift in Artist's Alley starts at 2:30 and the trip to Javits is at least an hour and a half from where I'm at. Oh well, I'll catch it after I get back. Picked up the Fate art book at con yesterday, 10% off MSRP which was pretty cool. Haven't had all that much time to flip through it yet, but it looks like a lot of CGs from the VN plus character design notes, so that's pretty cool.

Yeah, a few outfit changes for this adaption I noticed. I guess it's to properly reflect the season of winter in Fuyuki since that's when this whole thing takes place.

I believe that outfit has appeared in official art, but was never worn in the VN. It seems that ufotable realized that the story takes place in February and it'd probably be kinda cold, so they gave Shirou, Taiga, and Saber jackets.

The opening is incredibly bland. Like I'm not asking for the original anime's "SPOIL EVERYTHING" but man at least throw in some foreshadowing or some neat character establishing scenes. Basically don't stare at the sun Shirou, you'll hurt your eyes. EDIT: Actually, looking back the original's first opening was even more generic. I guess Fate/Zero is the outlier. I couldn't not let out a chuckle when he marched into the most obvious trap possible (Shinji) or treated Ilya as 'just a harmless little girl' after she literally gutted him without showing any remorse (she even kept saying how she would kill/enslave him and that he's her sworn enemy every time they met). Most of his dumbassness is due to wanting to keep Saber out of danger, which is caused by the how the early fight against Berzerker went. That fight turns out differently in other routes, so he never goes full on sexist.
