So TV Tropes finally raped harder than would allow. I'm not sure what's more impressive. The fact that they could, or that it 'only' took 8 goddamn pages.

Basic Trope: An erection Played Straight: Bob thinks about his Love Interest (or is physically stimulated) and gets an erection. Exaggerated: Bob's boner lasts for several hours. Or is abnormally big and obvious. Inverted: Alice and Bob are having sex and for whatever reason(s) (he's not physically attracted to Alice, guilt, too much alcohol, health problems, meds he's on, etc.) Bob can't achieve an erection. Alternatively, Alice's nipples are visible through her shirt. Justified: Bob is sexually aroused Bob just woke up; it's just a hormonal response that doesn't really mean anything Bob is taking vasodilators (such as Viagra) Subverted: Bob watches Alice dance sexily, but his pants are still flat. Double Subverted: But a cowlick on his head stands up Deconstructed: If Bob's erection lasts too long, it can have serious medical implications. Also, since Finagle's Law dictates that this sort of socially embarrassing thing will happen at the worst possible time, it could cause embarrassment. Reconstructed: Parodied: Bob has Pants-Positive Safety, and a bunch of people are staring at him. He reaches in...and pulls out a gun. Lampshaded: "Is that a gun, or are you just happy to see me?" Averted: This issue is simply not dealt with. Enforced: Rule of Funny, Rule of Sexy Invoked: Alice tries to seduce Bob by getting him aroused. Defied: Bob wears a garment that will prevent erections and/or tries the Think Unsexy Thoughts method. Discussed: "Did you see Bob's presentation, or were you too distracted by his, ahem, 'problem'?" Conversed: "What's the big deal? Guys get erections...without them, we wouldn't be here!" Played For Laughs: Bob gets an erection, and must make his way home without being seen...amid lots of hot girls and Freudian imagery. Played For Drama: Bob gets an erection during a particularly embarrassing time.

Or there's the Supernatural fans who harass the wives of the main two actors so badly they're afraid to show up at conventions nowadays. I believe the last straw was when one of them got reported constantly for being an escort/prostitute/whatever to authorities to the point she just had to leave basically. Moral is if you look every fanbase does its best to be the shittiest one out there and they always find ways to outstrip previous records.

Actual otaku in Japan can be the loving worst. (Site is , article is ) As much as we mock the beliefs tropers have about Japan and the "age of consent is thirteen there" myth, the industry goes out of it's way to appeal to the lolicon crowd, and that's why anime is in such a disastrous state right now. Nearly everything is fetishy because that what rings money out of this niche audience of reclusive people that the rest of Japan holds in contempt. If you ever hear American geeks complain about The Big Bang Theory or something, you should tell them how goddamn good they have it compared to Japanese geeks, who have it a whole lot worse as far as public perception goes, and for the most part the industry thinks it can survive by appealing directly to them with all the moe loli trash they could ever want. Would Japan be paradise for tropers? No, it'd actually a lot worse then it is here. But they aren't that different from Japanese geeks either. Creeps are creeps wherever you go, I guess.

This isn't an anime thing it's just a general attitude toward female entertainers that Japan has. And it's cute how you say "more than one guy". Here's an article about a Japanese pop star who had to shave her head and apologize to her fans in a desperate attempt to save her career all for the heinous crime of having a boyfriend (yes, just one, like a normal person).
