No they didn't? PAD's Hulk run ended at #46-something in 1999. Jones didn't come onto the book until 2002. There's a short Joe Casey run followed by the relaunch as Hulk #1 written by Byrne. Paul Jenkins took over a few issues into that series.

Pak's run was brilliant, but everything since then has kinda sucked.

Duggan was really nice when I spoke to him at DICE a few weeks ago, and asked if I was reading his Hulk. I felt bad saying that I wasn't because Waid's run had been really poor (especially compared to his DD).

Fantastic. I had quit the book after G-Mo left but Pak's Action brought be back to the big red S guy.

Seconded. It's amazing.
Pak's 'Batman/Superman' is often great too (there is one horrible arc from 5-7 where Jae Lee is swapped out for Brett Booth, and 8-9 which alternates with 'Wolds' Finest', which is not a great comic.)
and Charles Soule's 'Superman/Wonder Woman' is very decent.
You might wanna jump on all of it because they've been crossing over for the last few months.

He was in the last page of Axis #2 with Magneto's team, so presumably there's more in 'Magneto', then his 'Axis: Hobgoblin' book and whatever random appearances in the 50 Axis side things.

Magneto's villain team is supposed to get flipped around into heroes or something.

Axis #2 heavily implied how that's going to happen.

I have a feel good story about my LCS. I work at a daycare and the age group of my kids is 5-11, school agers, and they HATE reading. Well I contacted my comic shop to see if they had any all ages books to either donate or sell on the cheap. Next time I went in they had a pile of ~30 singles of all sorts and just handed it to me.

Monday at work one of the kids was going on about how he hates reading and how stupid it is then spent the next 30 minutes or so reading quietly in the corner when he found out I got comics.

Sure it isn't the highest level reading but it's a start.

I wanna be a saikyo HERO!
Mentioning guilty pleasures a page or two back had me wonder - anybody else reading Stjepan Šejić's Death Vigil? It's a supernatural superhero book typical of Top Cow at first glance (unsurprising, since he's worked for them a lot in the past), but doesn't rely on the more regressive issues of many of their books, and has a pretty cute sense of humor. It's obviously rough - the art is sharp but the panel flow, pacing could definitely use some work - but I love his expressions and character designs. Obviously he's kind of Michael Turneresque, but without most of Turner's problematic art tics.

I understand he's done a lot of work before, mainly for-hire stuff and a porn comic with his wife, but I admit this is the first time I've seen him. Any idea if any of his other stuff is worth looking up?

Yeah, I'm squarely in the "reading is reading" camp, so it's always nice to hear that comic books can still rope them in.

Of course, by contrast, my students are significantly older, and one of them asked me what my favorite comic was (Just as kind of an after-class joke) resulting in a complete blank on my part. Don't they have any idea how difficult that question is? :argh:

I got into reading through two ways. My mom reading me Roald Dahl books and my brother letting me read his Archie comics. Comics are a great way of getting kids to read.

My teacher giving me Calvin and Hobbes to read was the best and worst thing she ever did for me as a kid. Asking her every couple of lines what words out of Calvin's vocabulary meant here and there, at me being 5 it drove her up the wall.

You're making a difference, keep it up.
