The Hell rules. I haven't really gotten that into Groovehammer, their first record is just a tad more heavy, I think. Did you guys catch their cover of Nickelback's "How You Remind Me"? loving hilarious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDMGcP7aaY0

I can only listen to them as "background" music, otherwise I get bored rather quickly. If I'm listening to them in the background and dip in every once in awhile, though, they have some pretty sweet stuff going on. Idk, it's weird. I'm listening to their latest album right now while filling out job apps for IT HELL DESK and it's doing the job.

So, I think this is the first Acacia Strain album that I really, truly like. I've enjoyed their others, but it's always been more of a "I wanna listen to some ignorantly heavy poo poo", but this one I find myself actually liking. Every track on this

Stings of Conscience was one of my most beloved albums as a little poo poo. I just can't really get into Unearth the same way I used to, though. Solid track but sounds literally like everything else they've ever written.

Got ahold of the latest At the Gates album today. Every single song sounds pretty much exactly the same but it's still loving awesome jamming to some modern melodic gothenberg metal.

The first song on the album is called "Intro" 6 albums of almost the exact same song 11 times each with different names but they can't think of anything better than "Intro"?

More lame is that bands still regularly make the first track an intro and it's almost always some noise/sample poo poo that nobody actually wants to listen to. It's gotten to the point where I almost always skip the first track, under the assumption that it will be an intro, when listening to a new tape.

If your intro track isn't a 1:00-1:30 long colossal breakdown I don't know what you're even doing.

I like them when listening to an album all the way through, but they suck when you throw a sweet song into your diving playlist and it had like a minute long interlude at the end or some poo poo. E: Oh my loving god this Unearth album is so sick. Holy loving poo poo, I had no idea these dudes still had this level in them. Especially after their last two albums were slower-paced and more melodic. Jesus christ. Definitely worth the wait. chocolateTHUNDER fucked around with this message at 22:43 on Oct 24, 2014 |

The new album is definitely their fastest, most pissed off one to date. Their last few have been more melodic. I like their whole catalog though, the groovy jams of The March were a definite change from eyes if fires thrashy sound, which was a definite change from The Oncoming Storms nice melodic sound. Tldr: Unearth owns.

On my initial listen or two I was kinda like "yeah whatever more Unearth." Mind you I hadn't listened to anything since Oncoming Storm except for a part of a song here or there. After spending some time with the album I really loving dig it a lot. Trail To Fire is such a heavy jam. The build up to that little "OOF!" at 3:06 and the subsequent fast breakdown is my favorite part on the entire album.
