While the "stars" of FZ are all kind of psycho jerks, I'll take interesting psychos over boring anime cliches any day of the week. I'm an M.D. Geist guy not a Tenchi Muyo guy. Glib superficial observations aside, I get the feeling part of the problem with this story is that none of it's emotional core has the mojo of Waver's arc with the most electrifying servant in the holy grail war, Iskander "DAISENRYAKU" the Great. I'll be genuinely shocked if these twips have as good an emotional payoff as that reedy English wimp ended up getting.

Generally, F/SN's translation is very bad with its simplified awkward literal translation. And yet at times it gives translations that is changed enough that it gives entirely different meaning from the original. This is partially due to the fact that Nasu loves to go full purple prose and wordplay in the original japanese version, which the translator doesn't really try to get across or translate well. (The original adult content is not much better, but it is made far worse with the translation, some claim those were machine translated and then editied). Of course, the translator also didn't account for the many ruby text that gives alternate meanings to words into the translation too.

Except there's no reason to actually believe that and the sex scenes are pretty much integrated into the actual plot to the point that the alternative explanations make very little sense. I can actually get why would someone be disappointed if he jumped into UBW after Fate/Zero. The thing to remember is that Fate/Zero was a prequel to Fate/Stay Night, created after F/SN, to show a different way a Holy Grail War could play out as a stark contrast to F/SN, so if someone expect a direct continuation of Fate/Zero with similar tone and themes, then yeah, they are not gonna get that. To make that worse, Unlimited Blade Works is route that is probably the most disconnected from events of Fate/Zero. If you want something similar in tone to Fate/Zero, that addresses, continues and solves most of things introduced in F/Z you gotta wait for Heavens Feel movies. But what you will get from UBW are: - really loving awesome battles - story twists - clash of ideals - pretty clear-cut bad guys - lots of character development for Shiro and Rin - Shiro and Rin doing cool things - Saber just kinda being there

Saber does stuff, she's just not as prominent as she is in Fate. She has like one good fight in UBW and another in HF. If you want anything on Saber to be followed up upon you should probably play the VN, because unless ufotable announces a Fate set of movies after this is all done, they are not covering Fate.

Pretty sure all music we heard was new, which is weird because the VN's music is actually pretty good, and they are already re-using some of the VN sound effects, like the weapon clashes. They have to include some VN music sooner or later, there's no way around it.
