I'm quickly running out of reasons to not quit this game. Maybe I'll get lucky an be banned for using this "exploit" three or for times after I had already hit 60.

I wasn't aware that shooting space ships in a game where you shoot space ships was exploitative behavior.

Eh, since they removed the hit to weapon power, you can just Beam Overload over and over again. It was either gonna be that or a torpedo, but I landed on this and it sorta made the decision for me.

It's not well known yet, but you get 2800 dilithium for every "level up" you have once you've maxed out all the available specialization trees. :ssh:

This is still hardly an "exploit", but people were power-leveling way faster than Cryptic intended (a snail's crawl) and the whole point of this expansion is apparently to force people to buy dilithium, so obviously that had to be killed ASAP. I expect the reward to be dropped to 1440 or something soon, since doing five-man elite runs through the Argala patrol was still pretty... profitable.

I wonder when Cryptic is going to turbonerf the Dyson sphere patrols. I've been hanging out in there, grinding the undine rep, thinking, this is better than the lovely STF's.

Tau Dewa still down as of this morning.

VVV I was playing the Undine battlezone yesterday and leveled from 54 to 55. There were enough pubbies in there to get the planet killers and kill them all within the deadline.

Do you mean the Dyson space battleground? I've been getting crap all XP from that.

And on a different note, what mission gives me my hierarchy boff, and what level do you have to be?

And here I thought I was King poo poo for upgrading my pissbeams to Mk14. It's horrendously expensive, so it'll probably be my long-term project to upgrade 4 characters' worth of gear to that level. However, at this point they keep removing reasons to play the game so that will probably have to wait. Now that I'm done with story missions there isn't much motivation to keep playing.

Also, Bug Hunt is the new ISE - running it on elite with goons is tolerable and actually kind of fun, and gives good rewards. Sad to say that this and Bijor will probably replace the elite space queues.

I am holding out trying to not get into the upgrade grind till I have amassed space riches after this update it is same hard though. It feels like even not elite but just normal galors take forever to kill. I remember them being kinda punks but we are talking like 10 minutes for one. I don't know if the update is what is doing this or the unfortunate fact my main dude is science. I dropped all the credits I had on getting new stuff and cleared out basically everything I could to help it following the wiki guide. In the end, I started a tac lowbie out of frustration.

I wonder if they will somehow gently caress up the voth battle zone as I still can make like 10k dil less than an hour running that easy and looks like will, like pre-expansion, be the primary way of making dil for me as queues seem kind of unreliable.

All the Delta rep gear is still MKXII too so besides turning in the daily, is any of the gear looking worth it yet?

They gave the Voth zone high rewards in the first place to entice people to actually go there, since they know most of their players won't do ground otherwise. The zone can't really be done solo so it needs a minimum population to work.

They may be dumb enough to have forgotten that now, who knows.

I don't think Kobali Prime even has dailies to do. I ran around after finishing the story last night and even doing those hotspot missions you can make 4x the experience doing a normal difficulty argula run in the same time. There just doesn't seem any point and really baffling design decisions.

Everything in this expansion feels like a step back. As crazy as it was to shoot cyborg dinosaurs the Voth stuff had some really interesting game play. Breach was impressive with its death star run and taking down a city size ship from the inside. The battlezones had some neat mechanics, unseen in this game before.

But this new stuff feels like the early old stuff. Borg disconnected feels like khitomer accord with more hassels. The story missions are pretty bland. And they force you to do patrol missions to level like it's season 1. I'm not that impressed with the Kobali adventure zone either. Their take on adventure zones has never been fun imo. Voth space zone was tolerable if you wanted some quick solo marks. But they keep trying to push the play style.

It's no wonder why my main is still leveling up, even though I log in everyday. I can't stand doing it for more than half an hour before I just want to do anything else. Man, I really used to like this game too.

This is definitely starting to feel like a situation Cryptic really needs to get in front of instead of hoping it just blows over. Given how they handled Season 9.5 coming out though I'm skeptical. Either PWE is mandating to kill the game for a cash grab and Cryptic's hands are tied or Cryptic is being really dumb and reversing a lot of good trends in the game willfully and are being obstinate over it but neither scenario is good news.

I'm inclined to think it's the former. Cryptic did a really good job with New Romulus and everything between that and Delta Rising, and I think PWE saw Cryptic's success with that and their eyes turned into dollar signs.

Don't forget that while the mission content is fun, there's literally only enough to get you halfway through a level so you have to grind patrols or queues. This is presumably due to the incompetence of fuckwits trying to run this the same way they run their lovely chinese MMO a desperate attempt to make people buy XP boosters despite the fact consumables are a hard sell to the US MMO market and an absolutely lovely value in STO anyway some unknown reason. :suicide:

Berke Negri posted:

It has to be this. The past two years have seen a lot of effort to make STO more accessible and casual and it's lead to great and well-deserved growth. Cryptic has a lot of issues and they can't QA for poo poo, but once Gozer was out of the picture it's still pretty clear that the devteam knew how to make a good game. The amount of backsliding here is blatant and insane, and there's been a lot of semi-private rumbling by Cryptic during the last few patches about PWE rushing things.

The Tau Dewa patrols were intentionally disabled by Cryptic in a hotfix. Due to "exploits". :effort:

EXP boosters being reduced to 1000 experience instead of 3000 (haha what) makes sense in that light. 3000 exp isn't even a good deal except to people with weird priorities, but 1000 experience is a pathetic drop in the bucket as it takes like 50k exp to level. Also, there's more than enough "missions" released but that rewards are really lousy so you're forced to basically grind. The idea that this would lead to a lot of people dropping $100 to level up once is something that a western developer wouldn't expect other than of the whalest of whales, but would make sense from an Asian grindy mmo developer.

Yea there's a specific quest that let's you pick faction at the end. Then from there fleets are faction locked so you join which ever one for the faction you picked. The specific quest is called turning point or something.

Wouldn't a more elegant solution be putting daily or STF timers on patrols? With the level scaling changes to non-delta just churning through non-gently caress off patrols still is an issue so instead they just take away more rewards (theme of expansion). You'd have to level up three times a day just to hit the cap for refining. And have to level up like 50 times past sixty to even get to the point of receiving dil. We're people really leveling up that fast?

Edit: honestly, I don't mind. I'm not planning hitting spec point cap anytime soon let alone dil rewards from that as some income. It just seems sloppy as it was a release part of the system and they basically in a week had to go "ha ha whoops"
