JARRETT IN BALTIMORE YESTERDAY, WHO HE MET WITH

By Mike Johnson on 2014-10-23 09:53:20

Jeff Jarrett was in Baltimore, Maryland yesterday, meeting with Ring of Honor head Joe Koff. The nature of the meetings is currently unknown.

Jarrett's GFW company is scheduled to distribute the 1/4/15 New Japan WrestleKingdom Tokyo Dome event. ROH talents have been working NJPW tours, so it may have been in relation to whether ROH talents could appear on the 1/4 PPV or another matter entirely.

PWInsider.com has reached out to both Jarrett and Koff for comment.

lol if Jarrett can't have any NJPW matches featuring ROH talent on his PPV

I guess cutting out any ROH talent would make it easier for him to shoehorn Wrestle Kingdom into the 4-hour timeslot he has on PPV....

GFW LAS VEGAS BOUND?

By Mike Johnson on 2014-10-23 14:15:28

Sources close to the Jeff Jarrett Global Force Wrestling promotion, which will distribute the 1/4 NJPW Tokyo Dome PPV as it is still seeking out television partners, is looking to Las Vegas as it's likely TV taping home.

The promotion is currently in negotiations with three different venues to partner with them to host potential TV tapings and live events, PWInsider.com has confirmed.

GFW was officially announced the day after Wrestlemania 30 by Jeff Jarrett, who departed TNA in order to found the new promotion and build it from scratch. Since then, the promotion has signed agreements with a number of international promotions but has yet to sign any talents to contracts.

If they could run major wrestling shows every few months at the MGM Grand like they do for boxing, they might be on to something.

But I expect they'll be running casino banquet halls or something lame.

Jeff Jarrett's budget promotion is not going to run TV tapings in a major arena. Especially not the MGM Grand, doing so would be suicide.

If they run there once or twice a year, and did the TV tapings at a casino...it could work.

They'd need some big name American wrestlers to generate a buzz, though. Punk would qualify.

Just a guess, but I suspect Jim's gonna dial back the cutesy country sayings since I'm pretty sure he was told to play that crap up by Vince.

Also, JR at his most hackneyed is still better than Tenay. Tenay is fine as a 3rd guy educating unfamiliar fans, and nothing more. He got the TNA job because he was available.

vince tried his damnedest to replace jr at every opportunity, including trying to get mike goldberg to switch to wwe over a weekend and show up to raw. as this will be a ppv targeting unfamiliar americans, mike tenay would be such a better choice.

Or keep Tenay on as the third-wheel to add background information when needed like he used to do on Nitro.

Jim Ross/Jim Cornette/Mike Tenay would be awesome. I'm imagining Cornette getting pissed off at Tenay and his history lessons.

Bound for Glory was pretty good, it was great for a modern TNA show. The biggest blunder they had was the Triangle TLC match blow-off being on Impact the week of BFG instead of being on BFG, because the Abyss/Dreamer vs 3D wasn't nearly as good.

They couldn't do the TLC blowoff on the show because two of the people involved in it wouldn't have been able to get into the country for it.

According to Dave, Tenay watches all the wrestling he can get his hands on. I wouldn't doubt him being familiar with NJPW.

Not sure about JR's familiarity. If it wasn't for him being so miserable on his podcast I'd probably be more stoked for him being on NJPW.

He kind of regressed as the show went on/Taz dragged him down to his level but the first half of card had me thinking where had this Tenay been all these years. Mike was honestly having a blast calling the more athletic/sports like end of the card.

I will say his conception of Japan and Japanese Wrestling was if anything very 90s. He is like that in general he will say mark out for a hurracana but not for a more contemporary cool move.

I got the impression from his podcast that he dislikes the style immensely. Tenay is far from perfect but he is my clear choice if you want a veteran voice that people know.
