I dunno. Might get some play during primary season, considering that Cruz and Rand Paul are so much younger than her, but Jeb (if he runs) would presumably be favored to win the primaries and is only a few years younger than Hildawg.

likely to hear more about ~bain dramage~, I think.

Yeah, that's what I was saying. She was in the hospital and it was suspected some brain gently caress up was involved somehow so I'm just assuming the right is going to suggest that she's brain damaged thanks to a fall or is coming down with Alzheimer's or something. She's 67 but that's younger than when Reagan went into office so it would be pretty drat stupid of them to whine about that. McCain was also not exactly fresh when they put him up.

Even the Republicans know they can't go too far down that road. There's not enough young racist white people to elect anyone if you drive off the old people.

I think we'll see some closing of loopholes and expecting corporations to at least attempt to pay their drat taxes for once if we get a D in the big chair. That's about it, though. If an R gets it I don't think America will ever collect a tax ever again.

Can't we just get an executive order or signing statement that puts American tax code in line with Germany's?

Executive orders are not laws and can't be enforced like them. Good luck getting the corporate masters to pay their taxes with an executive order.

The thought of a Clinton running against a Bush again gives me tingles since I get a lot of that "WELL I DON'T WANT TO HELP ELECT A DYNASTY" behavior from people who have issues with voting third party since it's "throwing away a vote."

It isn't like there aren't unlikable aspects of Clinton's persona, just say "hawkish foreign policy" and you're golden. Dynastic fears are bottom of a long list of concerns there.

This doesn't make sense. Why did he release a policy book last cycle if he wasn't planning on running for something again? You think he's gonna make a run at a senate seat? Of course he's gonna run for president. He was just smart enough not to throw himself into the GOP primary meatgrinder in order to campaign against one of the most likable presidents in modern memory.

I don't think we're gonna see too much craziness in the GOP this cycle. There's too many candidates from the more serious side of the aisle, and not enough debates. I think some of the smaller players like Rob Portman, John Kasich, and Scott Walker may actually sit this cycle out if you get heavy-hitters like Jeb Bush or Chris Christie coming in.

A lot of it also depends on which donor networks the candidates are plugged into. A megadonor probably isn't going to fund 2 candidates in a primary. So Jeb running might force out a lot of ancillary people tied to the Bush power structure. It's the same kind of thing that makes a Warren vs. Biden vs. Clinton primary pretty unlikely.

If theres gently caress all to do, I guess we should just quit collecting taxes in excess of a yearly deficit. There's fuckall with conventional thinking; I want a result, find me a path to that result gained through working in current systems and I'll pass it along.

Imminent domain / declare national parks large swathes of affluent America; Jackson Hole, Martha's Vineyard, etc, then instruct the Fed to inflate the gently caress out of the dollar. Turn the nationalized mansions into communes.

See that's exactly the problem. A tiny number of Congressmen are completely crippling the government's ability to do anything. Yeah we should be unfucking the tax code. The government should be doing something - loving anything at all about the issues America has right now but McConnell and pals are just sitting on the "nope" button and going to sleep.

The tax code is completely legislative. There is literally nothing that executive power can do to change it, it has to be changed by Congress. The path to the result working in current systems is "get Congress willing to pass a law".

Maybe we could just put actors in a separate presidential league? So we'd have two presidents, one of whom cannot be an actor and one of whom must be an actor. They'd share power equally.
