Probably doesn't help you if it's crashing every time you try to use it though.

Are you by chance running version 8.10.14157.200 or 8.10.14147.180 of the OS (Go to Settings -> About -> More Info)? It could be related to this bug, which I think is fixed in the latest developer preview version.

:toot: Harmony Music App for Windows Phone 8.1 :toot:

The main focus of this v1 release is streaming your own music from your own OneDrive account. Put your mp3's in a root folder (name it something with the word "music") in your OneDrive account, and this app will present them and stream them. This is ideal for people with very large music collections, or when you have more music than fits on your tiny 8GB phone.

The model I'm going with is free but capped to 500 tracks, and then $2.99 in-app purchase for unlimited tracks. At the moment it's unlisted so goons can grab the unlock :siren: for free :siren: before I go public and turn on the payment next week. The IAP is permanent, so even if it's not your think at the moment grab it so you always have it. (I'd rather there was a way to issue freebies, but I can't. Oh well.)

If you think this app has promise and/or you want to help a goon out, the very best thing you can do is rate the app five stars. It takes 30 seconds and would really help to jumpstart this thing.
Awesome. This is more what I'm looking for, as I am old and set in my ways and not really into loading actual songs onto my phone. Chucking a bunch onto Onedrive? Sure thing, though (hellooooo OCRemix collection). Good luck!

My 521 running the latest DP bits is unstable as poo poo now. Frequently apps crash when I try to start them (it's happened with all of them, including basic apps like Calendar.) I'm not sure if it's the hardware, the DP, the lack of Cyan, having updated the phone OS a bunch of times since I've been on DP since it started, etc.

I want to try resetting the phone to stock 8.0 and installing the latest DP, and see if that corrects the situation. As far as I know, all the stuff I care about (message history, apps installed/setup, etc.) is stored in the cloud, but I think I need to have 8.1 on the phone before that will be restored. I certainly don't want to lose stuff if possible, and would rather not reinstall music which is currently sitting on the SD card. The only other thing on the SD card are offline maps, which I can redownload easily.

How do I do this?

Have had my 930 for about a week now, and am really liking it. One thing I would like to tweak, though, is the persistence of lock screen messages. They tend to disappear before I've had chance to read them. Is there a setting anywhere that can extend how long they're displayed for? I've looked, but I can't find one.

My wife has had a Nokia 521 from work for about a year now, and I've been using it more than she has.

I use T-Mobile because it's the only carrier I can burn through 90 gigs in a month for $70, and I'd like to stay that way. Will I be happy with a $549 Nokia 1020?

I would double check the bands on the 1020, I don't think there is one that supports T-Mobile LTE. I got my wife a 925 off of ebay for less than 200$ with the T-Mobile bands and it works well. I ended up getting a 1520 from b&h which sells the 1520.3 version which has T-Mobile bands and was around 500$. It's fast but large.

The Microsoft Store says it runs on Band 1 LTE, which is T-Mobile's territory in the US. I'm just wondering if it is a smart purchase given the other hardware out there...

Not for $550, no. Should be able to get it for $220-300 on eBay.

As for bands, if you're in a major metro area, you will probably be ok. I think the rule of thumb is if you don't have T-Mobile LTE in your area, the Lumia 1020 will be stuck on 2G/EDGE. I think if you do have LTE, then you'll get LTE and HSPA, but I could very easily be wrong. If you don't need the camera, a T-Mobile 925 might be better.

They've lost at least one user. My GF's contract was up and her 920 was dying, but MS/Nokia have nothing interesting or high-end out that she wanted. So, we got her a Z3 Compact and she's liking it.

It takes several minutes, but things should fill in as they're discovered. There should be little progress dots to tell you something is happening, and an approx % complete & discovered track count at the top of the collection page. The numbers should tick up every few seconds. Is that happening?

I am upgrading to the 830 from the 920 because I have no choice. The DP 8.1 upgrade completely hosed my phone, and since Nokia failed to put out a more compelling option, I have no choice. This is my third windows phone, and it's the first one I'm not excited for.

Also, has anyone found that 8.1 somehow uses way more cellular data than 8? It could be that because I finally have Data Sense I'm much more aware of it, but I used to feel free to check the People Hub and surf the internet pretty much to my heart's delight and never bump up against my 2gb/month limit. Now for instance, my data will say that I have 1.98 gb left, and then I'll check Twitter once (i.e. one refresh of my feed), and open one webpage on Vox and one on Deadspin, and I'll already be down to 1.97. Does that sound right? I feel like every month now I'm getting right up to my data limit, and that is while being conscientious about basically never using data unless I have to. I've done about that much cellular browsing over the last 3 days, and I've already used 25 mbs somehow. What the hell?

I have found that the Data Sense app likes to round up (which makes sense) and that when I 'call' the AT&T data number, the number in the text they send me is lower. Maybe check with your provider to see if they have a similar thing.

It's not really rounding up. Many carriers have data paths that they do not charge you for. So while it went out of the network stack and we count it, we don't know that the carrier didn't count it against your total. It's very common for you to have used less data against your plan than you thought.

- Is what I'm getting after letting it scan my 423 tracks. There's definitely artists after "d".
- No album art shows on the album page either.
- It tried to upsell me street I had already "bought" the IAP and had restarted the app.

Aside from those mostly minor issues I'm really digging it. Way better than running music onto my phone directly.
