I have encountered the phenomenon of going into a store and finding nothing that fit because all the clothes were too big due to vanity sizing. I normally wear a 4-6 and the size 2 pants were falling off and had to go all the way down to the one pair of 00 pants in the store to find a pair that fit. It should not be a goddamn challenge for people with normal BMIs to find clothes that fit in regular stores.
