good 2014 stuff: eyehategod, fistula, music blues (harvey milk dude's solo, weird poo poo). other than that i dunno, kinda boring. new blood farmers is pretty good, but it sounds like it was recorded in a bedroom with practise amps. disease concept was 2013 altho i only got the lp this year.

kind of a bad year for heavy music overall.

Thanks for the reminder to check out Fistula. By the way, the Salem's Pot record from this year was drat sweet too. I liked EHG's album, but I'm a bit of a fanboy and love sludgy hardcore so I don't really know what the consensus was on it.

thanks, guess i gotta check out the new godflesh and today is the day. crowbar was same old crowbar, with modern metal production.

triptykon are kinda pushing it as far as this thread go, but i guess sludge has no clear definition anyway

Crowbar will always be same old Crowbar but I dig it. Triptykon aren't sludge at all but they are definitely doom so they fit in.

It is, and I normally hate that kind of thing but I gave them a pass. Possibly because they have a seriously great guitar tone. It just goes on too long. It is pretty funny how much they promote Jamey Jasta on their Facebook page.

saw them live last spring, great gig. def go if they come near you, they played mostly old stuff and the new stuff sounded better live. kirk was awesome, with his dwarven beard, spitting 10 times during a song and taking metal poses.

Just want to add From All Purity by Indian to the best of the year list. Directional is my current track of the year - if only for the absolutely vicious vocal performance. My other favs so far are probably Yob, Ethereal Riffian, Thou, Bongripper and Earth.

Stoner Rock is probably my favourite LP by them so far and they have quite a few now. I mean it's quite hard to compare and rank hours of meditative drone but that one definitely puts me in a hazy bubble more than the others. I love it.
