I've already accidentally doxxed one guy from a comment on something similar in another thread. It seemed so incomprehensible that someone could stay stuff this bad and post their name to it (was a Youtube comment for what it's worth). I'm still calling it an accidental doxx because they were stupidly easy to find. They either have an amazingly bland troll profile or they actually believe this.

Ex-Greens MP Sylvia Hale donates $500,000 to environmental lawyers

Just before last Christmas, the Environmental Defender's Office NSW received unhappy tidings in the form of a federal government cut to almost all its aid.

By July, the public interest law group – along with EDOs in other states - had lost the rest of its roughly $400,000 in annual federal support, sending its lawyers scrambling for support.

In an unlikely source of funds, former state Greens MP Sylvia Hale, offered EDO NSW one of four donations of $500,000 the former MP was donating to groups close to her heart including public housing.

Teens died despite warnings to Queensland Government over closure of Barrett Adolescent Psychiatric Centre

7.30 By Kathy McLeish and Michael McKinnon Updated yesterday at 9:33pm Fri 7 Nov 2014, 9:33pm

Three seriously ill teenagers died despite the Queensland Government receiving repeated warnings about the dangers of closing a specialised mental health facility for young people in Brisbane, government documents reveal. The Barrett Adolescent Psychiatric Centre at Wacol provided 24/7 care for teenagers at serious risk of suicide, but it was closed down by the State Government in January, with families of patients told equivalent community mental health services would be provided closer to the patients' homes. Three former patients - Will Fowell, Caitlin Wilkinson and Talieha Nebauer - died since its closure in January, with the coroner investigating.

As health department, West Moreton Hospital and Health Service documents obtained by the ABC under Right to Information laws show, experts warned the Government that a tier-3 care facility like the Barrett centre was essential. There is a small group of young people whose needs cannot be safely and effectively met through alternate service types. Health department and West Moreton Hospital and Health Service documents "Tier 3 is an essential component... there is a small group of young people whose needs cannot be safely and effectively met through alternate service types," the Queensland Government documents reveal.

The documents also show that health practitioners wrote to the Health Minister urging him to keep the centre open with one staff member warning of "the risk of death or severe injury to the adolescents by their own hand if they are not cared for in a unit like Barrett". The Government was also told that managing the troubled teenagers in the community was "associated with complexities of risk to self and others". A report commissioned by Queensland Health stated bluntly that: "Interim service provision if BAC closes and Tier 3 is not available is associated with risk."

The ABC spoke to the parents of the three teenagers and they were united in their criticism over the closure of the Barrett Centre and the transitional arrangements for their children. Justine Wilkinson said the children went to the Barrett centre when they were a suicide threat where they were monitored 24 hours a day and always in contact with one dedicated staff member. Jo Olliver said her child had gone "from his lovely support at the Barrett with his teachers, the counsellors, the psychiatrist, the nursing staff, all the other kids, a whole lot of activities to being with strangers in a unit".

Queensland Health Department spokesman Dr William Kingswell yesterday told the ABC that the agency "tried to get better care in place closer to people’s homes. Those three children we failed. The coroner will tell us in what ways we failed," he said. Those three children we failed. The coroner will tell us in what ways we failed. Queensland Health Department spokesman Dr William Kingswell. While the documents obtained by the ABC show that a government-appointed expert panel considered a tier-3 facility like the Barrett Centre essential to ensure the safety of a small group of young people, Queensland Health says appropriate tier-3 care was available, including two beds at the Mater Hospital.

A report, commissioned by Queensland Health, into how the transition was handled was released this week and found staff at the centre led an exhaustive and meticulous process and went the extra mile to ensure appropriate plans were put in place. However, the transition occurred in an atmosphere of crisis as the January deadline loomed. The report's co-author, associate professor Beth Kotze, said there was an escalation of distress among patients. "There appears to have been a contagion effect of distress and anxiety amongst the adolescents," she said.

The Queensland Coroner is now investigating the deaths of Will Fowell, Caitlin Wilkinson and another former patient, 18-year-old Talieha Nebauer.

Such a shame that the leaders of the G20 won't be in Queensland long enough to suffer for being mentally unstable children.

The recent improvements have revolved around increasing pre-polling (since almost a third of people vote that way now), and shifting the election date to a Saturday or public holiday becomes increasingly irrelevant under that scenario. The fight has moved on.

Woman seriously injured, man shot dead in police siege in Perth

A knife-wielding man has been shot dead and a woman is critically injured after a police siege in the Perth suburb of Carlisle this morning.

An eyewitness told the ABC a man entered The Lunch Club delicatessen on the corner of Oats and Harris streets this morning, grabbed a knife from behind the counter and took the manager hostage.

"While I was in there this chap came from the front, bolted into the shop, grabbed knives then grabbed the boss and took her outside ... and threatened her," witness Donald McCaw said.

"Then he took her outside and they were trying to quieten him down, trying to stop him doing anything, any harm."

Mr McCaw said the man threatened to cut his own throat before then "starting on" the woman.

"He said 'I'll cut her throat', and everyone was around and they tried to talk him out of it, but he wouldn't," he said.

Mr McCaw said police then "virtually had to shoot him", firing six to eight shots.

"They were lucky to get shots in I think," he said.

He said he believed the man died at the scene.

Connor Bennett also witnessed the drama unfold.

"The guy was trying to... trying to stab the girl," he said.

"Tried to stab her once, and tried to stab her twice, and the police fired shots.

"She fell on the ground, because she got shot as well. She was moving, she was screaming in pain."

He said police initially fired three shots, then another four.

A woman has been rushed to Royal Perth Hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries, a St John Ambulance spokesman confirmed.

A hospital spokeswoman said she was in a "serious but stable" condition this morning.

Police and forensic officers have cordoned off a street as they investigate near The Lunch Club delicatessen.

Friends and family were at the scene, visibly distressed.

Police Commissioner Karl O'Callaghan confirmed it would be alleged the man was holding the woman at knifepoint with the weapon at her throat when a police officer arrived at the scene this morning.

The officer called for urgent back-up and several vehicles responded.

"Attempts to negotiate with the 38-year-old man failed and it will be alleged a number of officers fired their weapons," Commissioner O'Callaghan said.

"The man received a number of gunshot wounds and was declared deceased at the scene."

Commissioner O'Callaghan could not say how many times the man was shot but he did confirm the 37-year-old woman was also shot and was being treated in hospital.

He said the woman was working in a nearby delicatessen when the man came in and threatened her with a knife and she did not know the man.

The Commissioner said officers who were involved in the shooting administered first aid to both victims.

"The officers there were under a lot of pressure, obviously it's a complex situation, they have to make a decision in rapid circumstance and it seems they were certainly concerned about the welfare and the life of the woman concerned, and so they responded as they've been trained to do," he said.

"But we have to remember also the victim who was being held at knifepoint and her family, and also the person who is now dead and his particular family."

Commissioner O'Callaghan said police had to make a "very difficult decision".

He also called on any witnesses to come forward.
