[spoilers ahead] So, I've been filling out the completion cards for each character one by one. I'd been putting off Eve since she's my least favorite character, but once I got around to going for a chest run I ended up well-off enough to go for an attempt at Mega Satan. I didn't know anything at all about the boss beforehand, so it was kind of a wild ride. I used a goofy Broken Remote+How to Jump combo to infinitely teleport right to Isaac, beat him easy, and then went right to Mega Satan. And then got creamed. But, I respawned with Guppy's Collar, so then I went and cleared the rest of the chest to get some soul hearts as well as a lucky Sun card drop, and I was able to go back and try again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dsg760G2m6Q My offense wasn't too strong, but I had the patterns mostly learned and had the Wafer. Didn't end up needing the Sun card at all, just finished him off by going Eve super-saiyan on my last heart.  This boss is the best boss. This is my favorite boss in the game. The patterns are great, the visuals are great, everything's great. It's everything that a final boss should be in this game. Apparently some builds(items that spawn things?) can crash it but I'm not even mad, it's super fun and I'm really glad I beat it the first time I went for it(albeit on a second life).

Haha, holy poo poo, I just had a run with Lil' Brim in Basement 2, a devil room with Lord of the Pit and two Guppy items, a bunch of tear buffs, Monstro's Lung, and then I got Guppy's Head and the run just basically snowballed from there. Satan pretty much melted. Man, I wish I had copied down the seed before finishing.

Somehow managed to do the Beans! challenge on the first try despite everything being terrible, getting a goddamn XL level in the final floor AND Mom being a coloured version instead of the normal one.  Finished with a single half-heart, I might've cried a little if I had died there. The final fight was basically me just unloading all my bombs and running around like a madman while the poison slowly whittled down the boss.Here's a small tip that ultimately saved me and makes life a bit easier in general: If soul/black hearts drop in the middle of a level, don't pick them up immediately unless you think you're going to die before the boss fight. Instead leave them there and return to pick them up after you've cleared the floor but before engaging the boss. Normal hearts can be regenerated in many ways but those ones are lost forever, so you don't want to waste them on normal rooms if at all possible. This'll not only leave you in better position against the boss and the following floor, but also unlike with normal health, taking soul/black heart damage from a boss does not decrease your chances for getting a devil/angel room. In the long run this'll lead to a fair bit more success with your attempts. Obviously doesn't apply if you don't have normal hearts at all.

Sometimes I wonder where everyone gets all these cool items - I swear I just have endless chains of runs with mediocre to useless items one after the other. I don't think I've ever seen a brimstone, or a spoon bender, or anything. I get the devil rooms semi-regularly but 70% of the time he has red chests that have troll bombs and spiders in them and the rest of the time he has some poo poo like Dead Cat and Little Maggie and Guppy's Hairball (really? for max health? no thanks). I've beaten Mom's Heart on several characters by now, but ever since EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE unlocked that pretty much stopped completely. Often my attack power is so low it takes me 4-5 minutes of nonstop firing to kill some of the later bosses, and I just can't survive that long against the horrifying bullet hell that is Mom's Heart. I've gotten to Sheol a couple times, managed to get to Satan once, killed his first two forms and then died instantly from a giant goat hoof stepping on me, and never got to sheol again. I swear this game hates me. Hell, I've never seen a single angel room in 75+ games and a lot of the time I don't buy anything from the devil because he's only selling garbage like usual or isn't even selling anything in the first place.

If you haven't unlocked Azazael yet, buy those junk devil room items to get the unlock. Azazael is basically shafting your health and range for the guarantee of actually having good items that you start with. Then don't pick anyone else until you've found enough new stuff that goes into circulation that will counteract the poo poo drops.

Crack the sky is really weak compared to how it was in the original. I remember it being able to almost 1-shot most bosses, it did about 5% on moms heart with most of the beams concentrated on her.

Most of my runs are without any crazy items as well, it's just that people like to talk about the unusual runs more than the plain ones. The lack of angel rooms is a bit unusual though, are you taking a lot of red heart damage in boss fights? Speaking of angel rooms, the Prayer Card is pretty silly, it gives you half a sacred heart on every use with a 6 charge time. It nearly changes batteries into permanent health ups. I very nearly had max hp even though it was a Challenge run that only went up to the first Mom:  I was also a flying ghost firing zig-zagging spectral lasers homing on enemies so there's that.

I really wish the item log wasn't poo poo. Like. I can understand not surfacing item info in game but I still don't know what some items do or even their name because the only thing in the log is a picture how do you actually do the chest as a level?

gently caress devil deals if you have an item that give guaranteed post-boss rooms. I just got Halo, Prayer Card, and Sacred Heart on Judas from angel rooms. Jesus does indeed love me. Has anyone fought Mega Satan after the patch? Does it not crash anymore?

Hahaha. I just went through a game that felt like the equivalent of a cheat code run. I picked up the Pyromaniac item and it was feeling like a middle of the road run, and all of a sudden I found the Kamikaze usable. Turns out that syncs with Pyromaniac, giving me an insta-heal which also happened to blow up anything around me whenever I felt like it. I also got the Poison Touch item, so I was basically able to stand on top of bosses and explode over and over until I won. I don't think it'll ever get that perfect ever again. Ugh, I've been trying When Life Gives You Lemons and it's been miserable. The item set I could work around, but getting no damage items or flight or useful familiars/usables means I'm usually handling a room full of those vagina fucks needing six or seven shots to kill each one. Guess what, I'm not that good at dodging and four hearts only take you so far. Worst part of it all? I got Dark Bum only to figure out what the dice room does when it rolled a one. Uuuugh.

That was weird. I just got a gibberish phrase from the rule card. I think it was ISAC AACE but it flashed by so quickly I didn't manage to take a screenshot. I've tried inputing it as a seed, but it doesn't look like it works.

It was mostly bad luck tho, I got The Savior Of lovely Runs (although it didn't make that much of a difference, barely got any heart drops) alongside Krumpus' Head and the item that stores charges on a run and it was done. I also picked Cursed Eye by mistake (thought it was a pearl), but it played nice with the teleports.
