Yeah, sorry, since I stepped down as mod I lost unlimited PM capacity, and it keeps filling up now. That's a bit of a shame, cos it's going to make a lot of mashup albums, soundtracks, compilations etc. unusable without manual re-tagging. An option to browse via file structure instead would be welcome. If I add a new account to a Win8.1 phone, will it delete all of the previous photos/contacts/text message history? I for the life of me can't loving remember the password I used to install poo poo on my wife's windows account, as it is some outlook.com email that doesn't have a backup email. When I upgraded to 8.1, it deleted the password cache, and now every app on there is out of date. I made a new hotmail account for her, but I am worried that if I put in the new account and give up on the old account, it is going to delete every single thing on her phone.

I would never consider buying one myself (not a big Samsung fan). Still though, I'm surprised that it doesn't get batted around as an option for people in this thread. The point is, though, we've both been WP users since the beginning but the whole "wait till next release!" schtick is just not cutting it anymore for us, now that Android isn't embarrassing to look at and use. If Windows 10 next fall doesn't wow me, I'm bailing, too.

So last week I said Awful Forums Reader was in maintenance mode. That was technically true, the "AwfulMetro" solution was in maintenance mode; I've not really touched it in awhile. Instead I was working on a totally new revamped version. The old version was a real pain in the rear end to maintain, due to bad choices on my part (mostly do to the app being my first real Universal app). Now that I know more about MVVM and general workflow, I've changed it all around so it should hopefully be easier to maintain, as well as for other people to jump into. I posted a little about it in my other thread for Windows 8, but now I have stuff to show for Windows Phone. First, a slight change on the login screen. Dontrel will come back, but for now I'm getting rid of it and replacing it with my Lowtax endorsement. But for the more interesting stuff: True notification support is in. You can get notified via toast notification when any bookmarked thread updates. You can then tap on the notification and get sent directly to the thread. No need to keep mashing "REFRESH" over and over again, just let my app do it for you! Well... every 15 minutes or so. Also, you can add and remove bookmarks from any thread now. This new version has SQLite support, so everything is maintained in a local database. This should also make the forums view much faster, especially on startup, since it's all cached. Posts you've already seen will now be hidden by default. You can push the button above to show them. Should make it easier to scroll through threads. You can now favorite forums on the main forums page, which will appear at the top. Once I have more views changed over, I'll show more of what I've done.

Unfortunately, this is not good news for Lumia Icon (also known as Lumia 929) users on Verizon; he says that they (Microsoft) are working with Verizon to get the update out quickly, but that Verizon is taking quality issues very seriously. Okay guys, I think I figured it out. It's not MVVMHelpers fault, it's a bug in Entity framework 7 (Beta 2). It works in debug mode, but not in release mode. Well... ahhh, yeah. I'm gonna debug it and maybe send them something? I'm pretty sure I'm not doing anything wrong here, it's just a bug with their stuff. As in, It's trying on ResourceManager.GetString, at Microsoft.Data.Entity.Relational.Strings. EDIT: So I submitted a new version that should run, but basically the database stuff is turned off. So things like live tiles and background updates won't work. It should not hard crash though. Hopefully, once I send a bug report to the Entity Framework team I can see if it can get fixed. It really sucks I did not see that before submitting it. But too be fair, this bug is insane, considering it really ONLY affects the "release" configuration. If you compile my current code and run it in "Debug", it works fine. It blows my mind. Again, I'm really sorry for promising all this stuff, only to have it broken on launch. Hopefully they can fix it soon so it will work as I want it to. And as far as I can tell, the Windows 8 version is not affected by this. It runs just fine in that configuration . I sent an issue to the EF team, you can view it here. Hopefully it's just something stupid I'm doing wrong, or if it actually is their issue (and I hope it is) then they can fix it. I tried looking at it myself, and it's throwing at SaveChangesAsync (so, whenever I save the database, it blows up.). And it seems to be a culture based issue. So once they fix it or tell me what I'm not doing, I can push a new release and actually have the cool new stuff working.

Been trying to drag and drop a perfectly well-tagged album from my computer onto my 920 (running 8.1). First attempt only 3 songs made it over. Second attempt and a few songs were added one by one each time I opened the album up on my phone, but somehow only 75% of the album transferred. So all told it took me about ten minutes to put 3/4's of an album on my phone. 8.1 is so painful.
