The answer is, mate, because I want to do you slowly. There has to be a bit of sport in this for all of us. In the psychological battle stakes, we are stripped down and ready to go. I want to see those ashen-faced performances; I want more of them. I want to be encouraged. I want to see you squirm.

I work just up the road and I actually don't mind it; it looks better in person I think.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-11-12/immigration-department-loses-appeal-over-afghans-refugee-status/5885148

quote:

The Federal Government has lost a High Court appeal over the refugee status of an Afghan truck driver who claimed he could not return to his country for fear of persecution.

The Hazara man, who was denied a protection visa by the Immigration Department, had worked for foreign agencies in Kabul transporting construction materials to and from the city.

He fled Kabul in 2011, when another truck driver showed him a letter from the Taliban which named him and urged others to do their "Islamic duty" and get rid of him.

The Department's decision to deny him a protection visa was affirmed by the Refugee Review Tribunal, which ruled the man could avoid persecution by changing jobs.

However, the High Court found the tribunal had failed to consider whether it was reasonable to expect the man to remain in Kabul, and not drive trucks away from the city.

The "get another job" line is completely laughable, how do these people sleep at night?

If you guys are up for something totally different, there's this awesome Eritrian restaurant I just found (Mu'ooz) almost right next to Three Monkeys. They've got share platters and stuff, and the business was founded by refugees so it would be thematically appropriate for Auspol. It'd be more on the pricey side compared to Sukachi, though.

It is really good, I have been there with Shadeoses, my brother, and other relatives. It's the best. And the proximity to the Three Monkeys (and the rest of West End) is great. After my favourite Turkish restaurant got shut down and turned into a lovely wine bar (!!!) it is probably among my three favourite restaurants in West End.

So I wrote for the Conversation yesterday about the fact that the GP co-payment is a bad idea because it discourages people from using the most cost-efficient part of our health care system.

https://theconversation.com/medicare-spending-on-general-practice-is-value-for-money-33948

So today in the Western Australian we got

A spokesman for Health Minister Peter Dutton rejected the report's conclusion.

"Over the past decade, the cost of the MBS has gone up 130 per cent and could double again in the next decade," he said. "Suggestions that is sustainable are denying the facts."

Not that anywhere in our report did we assert that Medicare was sustainable or not. They just trotted out the same response they have been giving to all criticisms of the scheme.

Who wants to place a bet whether my project gets its funding from the Department of Health next year?

We've had clients at volunteering very concerned about all the police everywhere (as almost everyone goes through the CBD to come in, and many go on public transport). They're loving everywhere and they're really not acting the best even now, especially to anyone looking suspicious or odd, which includes people with various intellectual and neurological disabilities. It's really understandable that a lot of clients are deciding it's easier to stay at home this week.
