Shelf Adventure posted:If you look at how big all of Nintendo's Mario games are it's really surprising. I think New Super Mario Brothers Wii was only 300 Megabytes or something. Mario 64 is tiny too. Really, when you strip cut scenes and audio out of most games they get amazingly tiny. Even the biggest games wind up being only a couple of gigabytes when these are removed. The biggest required assets to play a game are the textures (though obviously you wouldn't want to lose the audio, it's often left uncompressed these days). From what I can tell Metroid: Other M is the largest single game that Nintendo had released until the Wii U came along and that's almost entirely on the fact that it's got about three hours of cut scenes.

Man, I'm really glad Captain Toad is coming out before the end of the year. That's gonna be $39.99, right? It'll be just enough to get me a 21st Digital Deluxe code.

Blackbelt Bobman posted:It looks really slick, but I haven't played the game at all. What's wrong with it? I don't know, I enjoyed it. A lot of people complained about the driving controls, but I had no issue with them. The lower end cars have bad control, but there's usually always a nice car around somewhere. The story isn't the greatest, but again I didn't mind it. I think the game gets a bad rap. Has some of the best side-mission mini-games that I have ever played in a game like this. Edit: The radio soundtrack kind of sucked, but it has Wu-Tang's C.R.E.A.M and that's pretty much all you need. katkillad2 fucked around with this message at 22:52 on Nov 18, 2014 |

That would actually be really neat. I for some reason love every instance of photography in games with decent design, from BG&E to Myst III. The recording mechanic in A Mind Forever Voyaging also sticks in my mind as a really fun and different thing. Need more games like that. They should really do a Hitman knockoff where you are an investigative reporter instead.

Wildtortilla posted:Since it's the Wii U's two year birthday let's post how the Wii U has impacted your life. Its the first non-handheld Nintendo console that's really been 'my' console in the house. It's weird, but it does also make the chances I get to play with others on it all the more notable, since most of the games we get now on anything else are single player - or single player focused. It also hits right as I'm becoming more critical of gaming hardware and such, and so through its sheer oddity - relatively underpowered, has a unique control scheme, comes from the most experienced of the three major companies - it makes quite the interesting case study, I find. It's particularly highlighted, for me, the enjoyment of various small 'creature comforts', as it were, that may not necessarily be easy to advertise, but certainly make it more easily accessible and useful. That and it gave me the Wonderful 101. Can't argue with that.

I bought a launch model, but then traded it in for a PS3 like two months later. Played the poo poo out of that for a year and then came back. Best part is that the digital games I bought the first time were credited to my account the second time around, so I got the digital promotion credit for them.

Has anyone tried one of the eBay Wii U Pro Controller knock offs? How do you like it and is it very similar to the actual product, fit, finish and battery life? I'm looking at this one in particular, it seems to have a lot of sales: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Black-H...=item27e1821776

I bought my deluxe model shortly after launch. Nintendoland was the go-to game for quite a while thanks to the excellent multiplayer, 5 player Sonic Racing was pretty great too. The browser is actually one of my favourite features, having the second screen is what makes it so good. My flatmate has a WiiU too, so the gamepads get pretty good coverage throughout the house. When they allowed Wii games to display on the gamepad we started playing Brawl in the garage every day at 4:20

So an unprecedented credit increase took place today and I might reward myself with pre-ordering Smash Bros. with the main draw being online play. Are the 8-player battles online as well? Am I dumb for wanting to use the Wii U gamepad or the Wii Remote + Nunchuck combo if the last Smash game I played extensively was Melee?

Eight player smash can't be done online. It'd probably be really laggy, so maybe that's just as well.

Not to go all BFC on you but just because you have more credit doesn't make it a good idea to use it. Having a higher loan cap just means the credit companies think you can afford to keep yourself afloat while further in the hole But to answer the questions, no and yes
