I've got one, and one on pre-order. The one I have is actually the Mega Man X controller. With the extra one I order, I think I'll have 8 player ready to go Pro, my 3DS, two gamecube, the Gamepad, 2 wii remote with classic controllers, and then someone gets stuck with the wiimote and nunchuck. I love how everything can control this.

The wii remote and nunchuck would probably be the cheapest option if you bought smash and needed 3 controllers for friends, right?

So I just got my first real pro controller and daaaaaamn is this thing nice. I usually play with the gamepad and we got the knockoff Nyko pro controller for my wife because we didn't know how often we would use it and it was half the price. The Nyko is.... not great. Too small for my hands, the sticks feel weird, the buttons are in the wrong place, the battery is something like 1/3 of the real pro controller, and it feels cheap. The real deal fits my hands perfectly and lasts forever. My wife still prefers the Nyko because she's used to it and her hands are smaller. Now I just need to stop myself from buying 2 more real pro controllers. :(

I think they're selling gamecube controllers for $20 so three of those would actually be cheaper(though you'd need the adapter).

Not surprising for a thread about a game which, not only is it not out yet, but even most news sites' reviews of it are still tagged as "in progress" because the reviewers don't want to attach a score to it without having tried the online mode, which is a major component of this game but won't go live until the game actually comes out. All that taken together means there just isn't a whole lot to talk about it right now, I guess

It's funny, every site complained about Unity's embargo being til 12 hours after the game's release because the online mode wouldn't be up til the day of release and said it was a lame excuse. But Smash Bros, the embargo is up two days before but everyone refuses to review it before playing online.

Because it was a lame excuse. Unity's embargo being 12 hours after the game's release was because Ubisoft released a buggy piece of poo poo and didn't want people to cancel their pre-orders while they still had a chance.

Smash Bros. is a game that's going to live or die depending on how good its online is. If it's another case of Brawl, then the game is going to die pretty quickly for a lot of people.

There are 2 checkpoints IIRC. Make sure to land all the QTEs and exploit your Witch Time. Juggle constantly and maximize your Wicked Weave APM. PKP is good, of course, but PPKKK is way stronger if you can land it tho because that's got TWO consecutive Weaves.

There is one combo where Bayonetta sweeps, that seemed to work well against her in my playthrough.

Renoistic posted:

Try using the sword. If you have the time, charge it before attacking and it will do a ton of damage. If you keep the button pressed you can actually turn into a cat without loosing the charge, which lets you do hit and run attacks. And remember to dodge dodge dodge. Especially if you don't have the Moon parry item.

Otherwise, in my experience it pays of to be really aggessive and not let her breathe. Watch out for her weaves and you should be OK.

ChaosArgate posted:

The sweep combo is PPPKKK, so go nuts with that. It starts from the first kick and goes til the last one. Shuraba is a really good weapon against her, so I'd suggest that and Scarborough Fair. Also since you're most likely playing on Wii U, feel free to equip the Link costume and get the parry move for free. Just tap the left stick in the direction of an attack as it's about to connect, and you'll block the attack and possibly even activate Witch Time.

Nintendo isn't putting up an embargo, the reviewers are deciding not to publish the review of their own volition.

Nintendo also does not have a history of being lovely like Ubi does.

If only everyone had this mentality.

Anyway, do people think Sakurai's little "experiment" with Mewtwo in Smash Bros. is actually going to work? From what I've been reading, you need both the 3DS and Wii U copies of Smash to download Mewtwo for "free". I'm not the biggest Mewtwo fan, but that kinda sucks for someone like me who doesn't even have a 3DS yet. I would expect this kind of ploy from EA or something, but from Nintendo?

I'm still on the fence about getting it for the Wii U. Online mode is going to be the make it or break it feature for me.

I hope Sakurai comes around on getting some other DLC projects going. Obviously characters are a big undertaking, but I think a stage pack every once in a while would be a great way to expand the game without devaluing what's already in the shipped version. It's working for MK8!
